He obviously has taken very little time in study in this issue and continues to advise to vaccinate without a clue.
Great way to make money off people needing help after injury.
I have nothing more to say.

Andrew Weil's uninformed views on vaccines
http://www.becomehealthynow.com/article/bodyimmune/1142
Andrew Weil, MD, a respected leader in the alternative health care movement, defends mass vaccination. Sparring with Richard Moscowitz, MD in Natural Health magazine in 1997, Weil asserted, "The debate about immunization could only be going on in a country where the people are mostly immunized.
If people in this country lived with these diseases, you wouldn't hear them questioning immunization." Moskowitz, a clinician who specializes in homeopathy, countered, "For us to bombard a newborn baby with a whole battery of vaccines as, in effect, their first immunological experience I think is reckless beyond measure. I would say it borders on the criminal."

"A: My opinion is simple: the benefits of vaccines outweigh the risks. And, yes, there are risks, mostly of immediate adverse reactions. But these are much lower than the risks of the diseases that vaccines prevent. If we still lived with diphtheria, polio, and tetanus, no one would question the wisdom of preventing these diseases. "
"I am glad that mercury preservative has been nearly phased out of vaccines, though I have not seen credible evidence that it causes autism, as some claim. I hope that genetic engineering will bring us better (and even safer) vaccines.
Finally, for the record, I keep current on my own immunizationsI had the pneumonia vaccine along with my flu shotand my 15-year-old daughter has had all of hers"
http://www.drweil.com/drw/u/id/QAA400067
"I'm aware of the anti-immunizations movement fueled by parental concerns about developmental disabilities, but I don't think there is any good evidence linking the vaccines to these disorders, which is why my daughter had all her shots as scheduled. If you're concerned about side effects, have your pediatrician check your children over first (serious reactions are more likely in sick children). You also may want to look into homeopathic treatments designed to reduce the risk of vaccine reactions.
Take any precautions you feel are necessary, but I urge you to have your children immunized as recommended. Although immunizations are not without risks, the risks are much lower than those that come with the diseases they are meant to prevent."
http://www.drweil.com/drw/u/QAA400319/A ... anger.html
"I've seen no evidence suggesting that there are any adverse long-term effects. A recent review of dozens of studies (published in the February, 2004, issue of The Lancet Infectious Diseases) came to the same conclusion. "
aluminum is fine in vaccines but not in antiperspirants.........Sheri
"I recommend avoiding anti-perspirants that contain aluminum compounds, which are irritants and may be absorbed into the body. "

"While disappointing, this vaccine isn't the only one under development. Dozens of others are in the works. Researchers recently announced that another experimental vaccine seems safe for babies born to HIV infected women. Now that safety is established, researchers must decide on further testing. Someday a vaccine could replace the drugs now given to prevent transmission of HIV from mother to child. "

ON HPV vaccine - "This is a big public health step forward. The vaccine undoubtedly will save thousands of lives around the world among your daughter's generation and future generations of women. "

"Having had an unpleasant case of shingles this summer, I'm inclined to recommend the vaccine for those at risk, especially since the disease seems to be becoming more prevalent. "
http://www.drweil.com/drw/u/id/QAA366404
"Your best protection is vaccination. If you have received the recommended two doses of the vaccine, you should have lifelong immunity. "

Re: Andy Weil supporting vaccinations
FYI, Dr. Richard Moskowitz, who is mentioned in Sheri's post, has an excellent piece on his website on the chronic side-effects of vaccination that he's seen in 30 odd years of homeopathic practice. Don't have the citation at hand, but you shouldn't have a hard time finding it.

Sheri,
As we discussed last year, what Andrew "Andy" Weil writes is taken very seriously by millions of AARP members who read his column in the AARP magazine. He is viewed as a respected authority figure and his advice can reach upto 38 million AARP members. Certainly we all know senior citizens who believe in "whatever the doctor says..."

and that is why there is so much concern on this list about him.
if he were not a known personality who carries some authority
about him, we would not particularly care

This letter to Dr. Weil from the FTC was on the Mercola site.
Dr. Weil has been recommending Astragalus. I don't know if i mentioned this in
an earlier post...but my roommate took this last year and never got the flu.
This year she started taking it again..and after a week there was blood in her
stool. I did some research and this year she has been on high blood pressure
medication for the first time and its not a good idea to take Astragalus with
blood pressure medication. She had only been taking the herbal supplement for
a week. She stopped and no more blood.

Re: Andy Weil supporting vaccinations
We have to recall how early promoters of health and diet were intimidated and
threatened into submission. Adele Davis and Carlton Fredericks were the ones
from my childhood. They both caved in to the meat associations and began to
support meat/organ eating even though they thought a vegetarian diet best for health.
Today we have the FDA that does this for the medical and food corporations. And
even someone as minimal in his natural health promotions comes under attack.
Now I still don't trust or like Weil, but it is instruction to see how even someone as
mainstream as he is, comes under attack. We will see how he responds.

Hm, how might astragalus relate to blood in the stool? That's not something I've ever heard of. Was it an interaction with her medication, or ? (I've taken it off and on for years, and love it, but have never really researched its interactions or anything--and I'm not on any meds!)
