herpes remedies
Re: herpes remedies
a number of times, remedies associated with herpes, or known to cure herpes virus conditions, have been mentioned on this list. i wonder if anyone can refer to me to information about this topic. i had a patient today who has had chronic fatigue/epstein barr/mononucleosis for about 20 years and also regularly gets herpes on her lips. i'd like to look at whatever remedies are generally classed as helping herpes issues, if there are some, and use that info in my analysis. thanks in advance.

Cold sores Rx
Natrum muriaticum (sodium chloride): Through homeopathic science, common
table salt (abbreviated as "Nat mur") is transformed into a healing
force.
It's often the first choice for cold sores around the lips and mouth,
wings of the nose, or even the chin. It's useful in the early phases of
herpes, when the upper lip is swollen, but no vesicle- or
fluid-containing sac such as a blister - has appeared. When vesicles
do appear, they're large and clear, or there may be a cluster of small,
watery blisters.
The person needing Nat mur often has dry, chapped lips, which may crack
in the middle or corners. The mouth tends to be dry, and the person may
be unusually thirsty. Besides fever and anxiety, exposure to the sun or
hot weather can trigger a cold sore. Nat mur is indicated if the person
is emotionally upset. Nat mur individuals are usually stoic and
repressed in their emotional expression, feeling they must bear the
burden silently. They often reject help or sympathy (though craving it
secretly), which may provoke an irritable reaction or held-back tears.
Rhus toxicodendron (poison ivy): Herpes that's relieved by homeopathic
poison ivy (Rhus tox) usually burns and itches, and acrid fluid may seep
from yellow vesicles. Cold sores may develop around the lips, nose or
chin. Rhus tox is effective for the tissue crusting that occurs with
herpes or where there's crusting and secondary infection. It often
follows Nat mur to finish off the cold sore, or precedes Hepar sulph if
a true abscess has formed. A person needing Rhus tox is usually
sensitive to cold, open air and dampness, and a herpes episode may be
accompanied by a general fever or can precede an attack of diarrhea.
Sepia (cuttlefish ink): People needing sepia have herpetic eruptions
around the lips, corners of the mouth and particularly around the nasal
area with crusty eruptions inside and on the nose.
The face may have a sallow, yellowish cast, especially around the mouth.
Occasionally, a telltale sepia symptom shows up: a brownish saddle-like
pigmentation on the nose and cheeks. The sepia individual often has dark
circles under the eyes and is exhausted, chilly and depressed. Sepia is
appropriate for cold sores that occur during pregnancy, before menses or
in menopause.
Dulcamara (bittersweet): People needing homeopathic preparations of
dulcamara can have thick, brown herpetic crusts with reddish borders on
their face. These crusts can bleed when scratched. Dulcamara is
appropriate for blisters that appear in clusters and ooze watery fluid.
Glandular swelling, burning, stinging and itching sensations may be
present.
Dulcamara-type people have an extreme sensitivity to damp and cold, and
an eruption of herpes may occur after rain or sudden changes from warm
to cold or damp weather. Eruptions are also more likely to appear around
menses.
Hepar sulphuris calcareum (calcium sulphide): This combination of
calcium and sulphur (Hepar sulph) is suitable for eruptions around the
mouth and lips, occasionally following the path of the nerves across the
face or even around or into the eyes, making them appear moist and
weepy. Hepar sulph is needed particularly when herpes vesicles have
become infected, indicated by formation of yellow pus. In fact, Hepar
sulph is the main remedy for painful boils, pimples or abscesses. Herpes
vesicles and infected pimples can spread by merging into an unsightly
mass. Hepar sulph can quickly control infection in most cases, averting
the need for antibiotics.

Re: herpes remedies
Dry potencies repeated again? And not looking at the whole symptom picture when dealing with a chronic issue. Only prescribing on one symptom?
Could cause suppression, once again
Please Liz, it is so easy to give in water if you are going to give and have them succuss reserve bottle 10X before each subsequent dose
but in this case as not prescribed on whole person, would only palliate at best or suppress at worst.
Please, Please.

Here we go again!!!!!
Another example of taking a post out of context, and presuming dry doses, lack of proper casetaking, etc........., where form of dose was not even mentioned by Liz or the existence or lack thereof of a totality. For all you know Liz could use water potencies and in the ‘approved’ manner and have a really comprehensive totality she used – which is noone’s elses business at this point. But that was not what the original poster asked for was it?
What is going on here == the wolves circling again?
Liz Brynin was the sacrificial lamb or Omega wolf this past week and now another ‘Liz’ dares to enter the pack to share in that role?
Read the original question and let folk converse with each other without doing the ‘white knight of homoeopathy’ thing. There are a few on this list who seem to have appointed themselves the guardians of homoeopathy.
Energy needs to flow not to be continually blocked – no matter how well-meaning it is because it is all down to perspective and action in the long run = not just theory, idealism or fundamentalism. Isn’t that what homoeopathy calls for – using the best energy for the situation at hand? Try and apply this to participating in a forum as well.
‘Can’t see the forest for the trees’ comes to mind.
What is wrong with you folk?
And to the original poster, some remedies that I have found commonly useful for symptoms of herpes, include – from personal experience as a prescriber:
For Simplex: Ars alb, Nit-ac, Ant crud, Rhus Tox, Merc sol
Zoster: Ars alb, Hypericum, Merc sol, Prunus Spinoza, Spigelia sometimes – all of the above chosen on their accompanying totalities which you can find in various publications, and their match to the presenting symptoms.

Re: herpes remedies
I stand for quality homeopathy for the patient who might be injured and for the benefit of homeopathy & I will not be silenced
Liz wrote:
she says she continually uses it
she says 30, 3 tablets per day X 3 days
Rachel asked for:
" i'd like to look at whatever remedies are generally classed as helping herpes issues, if there are some, and use that info in my analysis. "
Rachel did not ask for a routinist remedy that is dosed without looking at totality.
She did not give the total case so there is no way that Liz could have known the total case.
Liz indicates she uses it in an allopathic way.
This is a Hahnemannian homeopathy list so those of us that are Hahnemannian will speak up loud and clear - Joy, Chris, Kerry, Vera, & I, for the most part. Anyone else? Chime in.
If you want to talk about mongrel homeopathy, start a list on yahoo called mongrel homeopathy.
You, Robyn, answered with possible remedies as Rachel asked. Liz did not.

We are back to totality of case and Rachel appeared to be asking for
remedies that she could include in the total case. If people who are
unfamiliar with the use of homeopathy read Liz's post, then they could
come away with the wrong understanding. I have seen such posts do the
round of the internet as 'definite' cures for an ailment, something that
homeopaths know is wrong. It has to be remembered that many complete
novices to homeopathy read this list, and personally I think it is great
when someone points out how homeopathy should be used and a case
approached: total case, individual water dosing and regular follow ups.

Re: herpes remedies
I groaned with Sheri as well.
There are very good reasons for not accepting protocols as the practice of homeopathy, even if they are successful some times .
I am concerned that the encouragement and promotion of routine protocols weakens the integrity of homeopathy so that we are left with little that can be passed on to the next generation - little that can be reliably reproduced by them. Some of us have to be concerned that the fundamentals of homeopathy be kept intact.
The last time this happened I think you, Liz, recommended Med as a 'never fail' for molluscum contagiosum (in a 200C potency daily for 3 days if my memory is correct) to a query from Rochelle. After trying this approach, Rochelle reported back that it did fail - that the patient hadn't been helped. In the meantime though, how many people convinced by the certaintly of the claim squirrelled away this piece of information as an easier and better way to practice homeopathy?
If homeopathy reliably worked in this manner we would prescribe this way as it would be so much easier to practice - but it doesn't.
I would much rather that people complain (and I think Sheri did so rather nicely) about these routinist prescriptions than them be accepted without challenge. If the latter was to happen, the list would become worthless for all - even those who cannot yet see this would be the case.
