Ailing Cornus....any ideas welcome

Hello all,

I'm currentely using homeopathy on my garden as I am dread to use
conventional chemicals ... my current patient is a cornus (dogwood) he's
been in the garden two and half years but has not thrived as well as our
conditions/treatment would point out.
He has normal bud and leaf development in spring but after about four
weeks The leaf tips upwards until about halfway on the leaf turn yellow
and then black , I've eliminated all possible other causes, fungal, root
damage etc. it has even puzzled the garden designer and nursery as
otherwise the leaves look healthy and the tree is not shedding these
leaves until autumn/fall.

Thoughts come to mind when viewing; frostbite like necrosis (although
temperature drops not an issue)
currently the leaves are on the starting to yellow stage ... any
thoughts would be welcome as this plant is wonderful and suffering
unnecessarily.

are you suggesting that there was a frost of cold snap condition? have you thought of aconite? or perhaps arnica for shock and bruising, possibly in the transplanting of the tree, that the tree has not outgrown.
I have a question, too, that you might answer. some of my houseplants suffer from mealybugs and scale. the jade in particular, suffers from both. i have washed and picked the plants. i am not comfortable using alcohol as the infestation is intense and i dont want to saturate the plants with this. have you any thoughts on a remedy that might strengthen the plants or counter to infestations. i dont use toxic chemicals, but have used seaweed and fish emulsion for strength and fertilization.

hi Tanya,

No ... just that it looks like frostbite type necrosis although there is no connection to weather, these symptoms coming on in spring during warmish british weather.. I've tried aconite unfortunately no response...

About your pest-ridden plants have you considered sulphur I had good results last season with my aphid plagued ilex (holly) will be repeating as it benefited it's VF greatly ...

Sara mentioned vinigar....

I've used Raw unpasturized Apple Cider Vinigar in water on my Azalias, and it REALLY helped them! It was Amazing to see the difference in just a few days!!!
