rubric help - incoherence

Post by tg.partington »

An older lady whom i last saw some years ago has tracked me down again!
Something to do with her thyroid.
I find her exhausting and I am not looking forward to the consultion.
She is quite incoherent, talking in disconnected phrases and jumping from one thought to another. After her initial diagnosis I spent half an hour trying to find out if she was hyper and hypo and at the next consultation concluded that I may have got it wrong even then. She lives an independent, 'together' life although estranged from her daughter and tending to fall out with people dramatically quite often. She would not be described as having any kind of mental health disorder.
I appreciate that this incomprehensibility/incoherence and my completely frustrated and exasperated response (hidden, I hope) are probably my best entries to the case and am asking if anyone can come up with rubics that might help me expand my vision.

In what way does she exhaust you - I ask as this might be an indication of the thyroid state - hypo so often sluggish with the incoherence but hyper will be agitated and hasty with it like you get with the rx Aqua marina.

I would add 'mind, forgetfulness, cannot finish sentence' and 'speech and voice, cannot finish sentence' + 'speech hasty' (if that is the case), + 'speech and voice, stopping suddenly, often'

Before I even go look at materia medica...hyos has confused babbling and
aversion to company. I was wondering about lach which also has confused
speech..going from one story to another and i remember reading in one of those
first books that came out describing the personalities of the remedies ..that
lachesis would all of a sudden just drop their friends..but i can't find that
in the old books..but from personal experience i know that is a characteristic
of lachesis. Oh, wait a minute..this isn't a quiz?

Being very simplistic about this, would Lachesis be a possibility with the jumping from one thing to another? It is also in the Thyroid rubric.
