This is just a little incident I thought some might find of interest or use ....
The other day my daughter was cleaning out her fish tank - a small 1.5 gallon tank. You are supposed to only empty out a small portion of the water and then refill. Unfortunately, because the water had been so bad, she emptied out the whole thing except for the small bowl she had put her fish in while she cleaned the tank. After getting it all set up, she put the fish back into the tank.
The fish immediately went belly up and started to expand and turn white. There was blood coming to the surface at the base of the gills and fins. She yelled for me and I ran over and scooped the fish out and put it back into the small bowl. It sunk belly up to the bottom of the bowl where it stayed seemingly gasping for oxygen.
I quickly grabbed CarboVeg from the cupboard directly above us and dropped two pellets into a small cup of water on the counter, grabbed a tiny spoon, stirred quickly, and then dropped a few drops into the bowl.
Literally within seconds, that fish popped upright and started swimming around like an Olympian! Within a few hours, the blood had receded and the fish looked healthy and peppy!
And it lived happily ever after back at the fish store because our well water is so bad it can't keep a fish alive!
Truly,
Erica

Congratulations Erica!
I have had several successes with Carbo veg and fish, especially when they get bloated, end up half on their side or nearly upside down unable to swim properly due to the air buoyancy, and they are gasping weakly for oxygen. If you need to do a complete water change again may I suggest that you do it in increments....ie...gently take 1/4 of the bad water out and then add 1/8 good water back in and then 10 minutes later another 1/8 good water. Next take out by half and add by 1/4's etc allowing the fish some time to adjust to a more gradual change of water....or something to that effect. I don't know how large your tank is but you can use plastic tubing (1-2 cm diam) to suck water out and it acts like a vacuum cleaner as you move it around the bottom and keep adding fresh at intervals as you vacuum/drain.

TAN.
