I took a case today of a 56 yr. old male with ulcerative colitis who has
been taking Salazopyrin since 1982 and has just finished a course of 14
Predsol enemas because he has just gone through an acute attack which
happens about every 12 months. He also has Diabetes Mellitus and take
tablets for this. Have I a chance in hell of a homeopathic remedy getting
through this lot??? I took the case today and will have to work on a
constitutional as I want a remedy which is a possible combination of
Lycopodium and Phosphorus in a shy person!!

case management
Re: case management
Rochelle,
I've posted this before, several times, on another homeopathic BB.
No one seems to believe me!
My husband was on steroids for over a year for colitis and
proctitis. No help. Was scheduled for a colostomy. In a last ditch
effort (hadn't heard of homeopathy then) took him off all regular
foods. Put him on a diet of only home made yogurt (for the
acidophilus), home made applesauce (for the pectin) and large doses
of time released Vit C. Within 3 days the bleeding and pain was
gone. Slowly reintroduced foods into diet, staying away from
anything spicy or seasoned for quite a long time, keeping his diet as
bland as possible. He continued to eat yogurt, applesauce and take C
but not in such quantity as the 3 day treatment when that was his
complete diet.
He never had a relapse of any symptoms - at all - ever. Twenty years
later he is able to eat anything he wants with the exception of black
pepper. I felt black pepper (not hot peppers) were a major problem
with his condition and since I grow Summer Savory as a substitute, it
hasn't been a problem for him to have permanently eliminated black
pepper from his diet. (Now, I guess I'd have a look at Piper Nigrum
though it certainly doesn't come up in any search for colitis!)
I since used the method for a dog that the vet had no luck in curing
his colitis. His case was brought on by emotional reactions to
changes in the home. He had reached the point of being a skeleton.
It helped quickly and he lived a long life after that.
There were good results with friends who tried this diet change.
None were as bad as our dog or the hubby, but they were once again
able to go out to dinner without anxiety.
Not homeopathy but it did work for us.
Best,
Georgianna

Re: case management
Perhaps Nat Mur may fit the bill especially in an LM. It will take ages
for him to get well so be patient,it can and does(as we have heard)
happen.

Re: case management
Hi Patricia
I am trying to be patient! The symptoms are not too acute right now but
have not resolved completely. I did choose Lycopodium also because of
the existing skin symptoms. He got a painful pimple in the corner of his
mouth that is covered under Lycopodium. I have never used LMs and did
not want to go higher than a 200C. Thanks for the advice.
