Dear all,
I'm not a practitioner, just a fan. It's my understand that by taking a combo rem, you're taking perhaps the right rem and however many others that won't act/hurt you. ?? If yes, it seems that a combo rem "for" a condition (flu, broken bone, whatever) could often help without at all harming. Maybe the timing (all at once) prevents rems from knocking out each other? I've used combo rems (Dairy Allergies by Bio-Allers, among others), and have gotten good results.

Re: Combo rems
Dear Margaret
Kent said that he would rather go into a pit full of snakes rather than being treated by an inexperienced ' homeopath'.
If Homeopathic remedies are safe, then Why?
Potentised substances are only safe in well trained hands.
By giving unnecessary remedies to a patient, one is not practising homeopathy!
Also one could cause proving symptoms to be exhibited.
The patient then complains about them and gets further prescriptions.
What you end up with is total mess of tangle symptoms which would become difficult to resolve.
Best to take a good case, repertorise, check with MM and then prescribe.
Why give up on a tried and tested method?
Answer: LAZINESS!
Best

Re: Combo rems
I suppose I practiced in fear of doing damage for a long time. Will Taylor comforted me by saying there is no spoiled case just case for which the right remedy has not been found. The purely intellectual task of finding a remedy is great. Often something subtle like a heaviness or something serendipity throws up is the clue. Agonizing over a case of headache which Joy's story of Aristolochia may well solve. It concerns me greatly that particularly in cancer strict classical homeopathy can fail {JW} and many others. I think we should practice with love and care and some trust that healing comes in not only one guise. FWIW and will probably be opting out for a while, Jean

Re: Combo rems
Kent might have been exaggerating things a little bit... Well if we listen to him we cannot even have Germ theory and think what that would do Ardavan's viral theories...
In my many years of homeopathic practice it is very rare indeed I have ever seen problems that could be specifically attributable to combo remedies. They have done a lot of good in capable hands. I do not care if they are strict homeopathy or not- but are they effective, yes, are they harmful - not in 99 % in my experience. In fact they have saved a lot of people from unnecessarily going to antibiotics etc. which by itself I would say is more than enough to support them or at least leave them be...
My flu combination and cold and cough combination had a regular following... many poor people who would have been hard pressed to find money for allopathic care and medicine loved these medicines...
THere are so many boils, abscesses and "Madras Eye" conditions that have responded to these...
I do not remember a single case ( except may be just one case where there was an aggravation of cough) where there was any problem- nothing to do with pitful of vipers
May be Kent meant a pitful of diapers
