Sol (Was: Definition...)

Post by Fran Sheffield »

Sorry I have not responded previously where asked to - will respond soon. This caught my eye and I wanted to make a quick comment.

I have never used Sol and so don't know what it is like as a remedy but a distinction should be made, as Chris has done here, between preventative use and treatment.

It would be interesting to know how Sol performs prophylactically because as a general rule, a high degree of individuation is not needed for the prophylactic use of remedies - there just needs to be a similarity between the characteristic symptoms produced by an agent, and the symptoms trying to be prevented. The existing symptoms or nature of the individual is a minor factor to consider.

Once the person has been affected by the sun and treatment is required, it is then a little short-sighted to only consider Sol, as the individual's experience and expression of the disease/damage is paramount - which may move the remedy choice well away from Sol.

Is anyone inclined to use Sol prophylactically and report back? :-) Australia is in the middle of winter so the sun is not very strong at the present.

I also haven't had the opportunity to look at how Sol has been prepared but this would also be interesting to consider, no matter what the results of any experimentation are.

I when go North in winter to the tropics get itchy red red eruptions on my upper arms. Last year I perceived Sol ,I think 1 dose, made them disappear. Have not been able to make that journey so far this year. I have not understood it to be a remedy for sunburn, Jean

I think it is like any prophylactic care, a number of remedies become available and it is a nonsense to use any one routinely. Interesting thing about Sol is the main sun complaint is that of headaches as you might get in heat stroke and not the skin. In fact the skin sx are not suggestive of heat burn at all. Foubister used it in radiation poisoning in people being treated for cancer. Not a great deal exists from provings - this might be useful

Fat chance of experimenting with it here (britain) :-))

I have known patients prone to heat rash in the sun (sun rash?) claim that sol acts effectively prophylactically.
Like Chris I would never suggest that someone expose themselves to the antipodean sun on the strength of Sol.... or any hot sun for any length of time. One of the problems with prophylaxis of all kinds is that it encourages people to ignore common sense protection. Malaria being another case at point. Covering up being a good idea in both cases.

Now then Ashes 200 and Wimbledon 1M will have great commercial possibilities.
I can see the Dragons forming an orderly queue!
