(((Hi Paul, The point that synthetics may not be common chronic remedies
is an interesting one bearing some consideration.

--is X-ray (emitted by the sun) a synthetic?
--is electritas (if made from direct or static current present in
organisms and lightning, respectively) fundamentally synthetic?;
--is penicillin (a fungal product)fundamentally synthetic?

((( quick point #2: the quinine-element combinations Chininum ars,
Chininum sulph, Chininum mur are organic "plant substance"-"mineral
substance" combinations presumably right from a chemlab. As you know
Chin-ars and Chin-s are among the most common remedies for states of acute
malaria, and their use as chronic remedies is not uncommon. Another
example is Thalidomide, a remedy for cases of psoriasis, a difficult
constitutional issue.
It may be that synthetics are as destined to exist as are the elements,
fungi, decomposer microbes, or the plants - however mistaken a path
humanity has taken in the organic petrochemical panoply. A "constitution"
is an expression of destiny, in a real sense. That which is inherited is
part of the nonaccidental phenomenon of each human life. Resonant match
to a constitution or complaint thus may find its match in what is in the
environment, whether humanmade or not. While an interesting discussion -
I am skeptical about making any wholesale distinction between synthetic
and natural substances as per use - or constitutional use.
How many people need synthetic remedies constitutionally? We do have
toxicology reports (quite Hahnemannian - witness the source of the
original pathogenesis of arsenic); and Marsh's materia medica of
allopathic side effects (in the Kent Associates programs); the complex
mineral water remedies; and the synthetics which have had provings or much
clinical use. We thus COULD look for these pictures more often.
But we have not gone down that path too far yet. Thus we cannot draw much
conclusion yet, IMO. Our assessment of the comprehensiveness of the
materia medica mainly springs from our *successes*. Using positive
outcomes to prove exclusivity is not logic. Of our failures no conclusion
can be drawn from the fractional sample of humanity that homeopathy
attracts (if WHO is right and that is 500 million that is under 10%, and
not all are getting curative remedies). Synthetics may well be some of the
missing pieces in constitutional tx. Scholten's whole exercise in
introducing missing periodic chart remedies including the very prevalent
Lanthanides etc. prove that there is likely NO homeopathically unuseful
element or compound. Same with new provings of the animal kingdom. The
situation with humanmade compounds may be similar - another arena not
fully tapped - though probably to a lesser extent.
Don't have time for extended conversation, but passing on these few thoughts.
Respectfully,
Andy
