Calcarea Ostrearum ?

Post by Ruby »

Hello,

In reading Nash's Leaders, on page 71, there's a remedy called Calcarea
Ostrearum, which I've never seen before. I tried looking it up in
Clarke's and Murphy's, but didn't find it. Can you tell me if this is a
different remedy, or one now known by a different name???

Does anyone know anything about this rem?

Thanks in advance!!!

Seems to me I've read discussions of this identifying it as essentially
Calcarea carbonicum. Ostrearum, the word, refers to the shell.

Jennifer,

Calcarea Ostrearum is the same as Calcarea Carbonica. The following is a
quote from Gibson's Study of Remedies: "Calcarea Carbonica... also known
as Calcarea Ostrearum, is prepared from the secretion of Ostrea edulis,
the oyster."

Yes, and it is also simply Calc Carb, abbreviated Calc. This is what
Hahnemann used as his source for the Calc which he introduced to homeopathy.

Thankyou to everyone for helping me to identify this remedy. I guess names and terms sometimes change in a hundred years!!!

I appreciate your speedy feedback.
Thanks again!
