Plants and homeopathy

Post by Amity & Jason Engleson »

I was just wondering if anyone ever tried homeopathy on plants or in the vegetable garden. A lot of fungicides have sulphur in them and I was wondering if making up homeopathic sulphur water and putting it on would work in a similar way.. Any input??
Thanks

Kaviraj has a whole book on it!
Don't think he's a member here, but on other forums. (Write off list?)

I have used them too, also Bach remedies but if you are interested in
this then the book suggested is the one to get.

Hello Mr/s Engleson,

I have no idea if that would be effective, but there is one book advertised
on the subject which sounds fascinating. It may be partly anthroposophical,
I don't know.
"Homoeopathy for Farm and Garden" by a fellow who writes under the pseudonym
Valikunthanath das Kaviraj. His other name is Ben Rozendal, you used to see
him on the odd homoeopathy Forum here and there.

A review of the book is here: http://www.minimum.com/reviews/Farm-garden.htm

The author's email address is here: similicure@yahoo.co.uk

It would be great if you would let us know how you get on if you try it, or
if you have already experimented.
Good luck,
Chris

I am excited to see this topic taken up. My wife and I have just utilized this book for an entire growing season with regards to our wildflower garden and organic vegetable garden. And yes I was skeptical and yes it gave sound advice with regards to rxs used in a dedicated therapeutic fashion and yes it worked every time! We lost no plants to rust or insects. And yes some had become infested with one or the other or both. I gave our beans and peppers Bell and all of the plants Bioplasma for usually aphids and with no other treatments. It worked in spectacular fashion. The author seems to obviously come from an agricultural/Homeopathic background and appears to know what he is talking about. I would be excited to hear others results.
You can find the book here:

An Indian homeopath developed an interesting homeopathic treatment for plants, Agro-care, but I don't know if it's being marketed outside India.
I read recently that a solution of milk and water worked effectively as a fungicide, but I haven't tried it yet.

I came to know from 98 winter edition of; homoeopathic heritage ' that
application of homeopathy in agriculture is a need in the society. Thanks
for the cooperation; and suggestions of many who wrote to me. Please
collect and contribute some interesting articles or notes to me as i am
interested in experimenting homeopathic medicine in plants.
Idris S.M.got increased size of mango fruits and marigold flowers by the
use of Kali mur 12.He controlled aphids on beans by dusting wood ash over
the plants and embedding Sulphur 30 under the plants. Sulphur made them
antipsoric. He also observed Nat.Sul is one of the important remedies for
hydrogenoid constitution..Dropping of mango fruits due to ill effects of
burning heat was also controlled by him by the use of Nat.mur 30.
Verma et al (1969) found very encouraging results in curing virus-diseased
plants. They observed that Carbo veg, Chimaphilla, Chenopodium, Cedron and
Variolinum decreased the virus content in Nicotiana tabacum var.N.P.31
discs by about 60-90% when leaf discs were floated of virus inoculation on
these drugs for 7 days.

Homoeo medicines proving excellent bio-fertilizers
By M. Dinesh Varma
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, NOV. 9. A select range of homoeopathy medicines
is proving to be excellent bio-fertilizers with pest repellent
properties for a range of plants and crops during field studies
conducted by a volunteer team at the Government Homoeopathic Medical
College here.
The results of these "clinical trials" on plants and crops have been
much more than encouraging, with application of liquid form of the
drugs in adjusted dosage returning bumper harvests and augmenting
self-protective mechanisms to ward off disease and repel pests and
insect attacks.
"Farmers, who tried it out on their crops as diverse as coconuts and
bitter gourds, paddy and banana, have been ecstatic about the boost
in yield," Dr. M. Abdul Lethif, Principal of the Government
Homoeopathic Medical College in Thiruvananthapuram, project
conceiver, told The Hindu.
"Most importantly, the medicine-equipped plants/crops were enabled to
ward off disease and pest attacks," says Dr. Lethif, who is also
controlling officer, Department of Homoeopathic Medical Education,
Kerala.
Dr. Lethif has been working on a baseline of around 10 homoeopathic
formulations, classified as the "Agrocare" range of residue-free and
organic vitalisers for the past eight years. The identity of the
ingredients, supplied in the form of globules, is being kept a
closely guarded secret as the innovator has applied (on October 20,
1999) for a patent at the office of the Controller for Patents in
Chennai.
The phenomenon has already attracted the attention of the Union
Agriculture Ministry, which has sought a demonstration before a panel
of experts of the Indian Council for Agricultural Research.
However, in spite of the promising potential of the homoeopathic biofertilizers,
there is yet to be a State- supported and systematic
initiative to validate the innovation for largescale application in a
State where the farming sector is in disarray.
The vitalisers have been tested at the Government seed farms at
Chirayinkeezhu and Ulloor a couple of years ago but no systematic
evaluation has ensured the trial. The most sincere attempt as yet has
been initiated on 1.75 ha of banana plantations and 3 ha of paddy in
Kunnatthukal grama panchayat in the district.
Field observations led by the agriculture officer, Mr. Gireesh Kumar,
have already indicated that initial results from the application of
homoeopathic medicines were encouraging. The technique was costeffective,
eco-friendly and provided improved yield and better
control over pest and diseases of crop. However, prior to largescale
use of this technique there had to be detailed research to explore
the full possibilities of organic farming, according to the
agricultural officer.
Meanwhile, the acceptance has been spontaneous among farmers who have
volunteered to experiment with the medicines. Not only had the field
trials with the homoeopathic medicines gained much from higher yields
but also the plants and crops on the medicine- soaked soil base had
not been attacked by pest, insects or any disease.
Wherever homoeopathic experiment had been attempted, the results were
enthusing. Farmers have tested the bio-fertilizers on arecanut in
1999 at Maikavu and on five varieties of vegetables at Chelannur in
Kozhikode and on orchids and anthuriums at Anayara in
Thiruvananthapuram.
It is pointed out that plants do need some insects and need to ward
off others. A group of plants follows a system of communication with
chemicals, through a process known as allelopathy.
According to Dr. Lethif, it could be seen from the trials that
application of homoeopathy solvents had lend additional protection to
the plants by producing certain chemicals that are repellent to
harmful insects or by increasing the natural immunity of the plants
and trees.
"This inference leads to the potentiality of preparing separate
formulations for the disease/pests for various crops such as coconut,
pepper, plantains, tubers, or even flowering plants", says Dr.
Lethif.
The innovation was presented as part of a compendium of background
papers on the focal theme of the 12th Kerala Science Congress in
January last year. The event organised by the State Committee on
Science, Technology and Environment, had focussed on "Health for
weaker sections and disabled".
The hope held out by this organic vitalizer will also figure in a
paper presentation at the one-day workshop organised by the Kerala
Agricultural University in Thrissur on November 22.

As I wrote earlier, hom. is going to work, I think, only with living
beings. You could dissolve remedies in water, as again I earlier mentioned
for treating ( terrestial ) plants, but for water creatures you would of
course treat the whole eco-system at the same time ( and how to estimate
the dosage ? ), unless you invent a way of seperating individual beings, or
of injecting each one with dissolved rem. ( as some have done in humans ).
Never heard of anyone doing such watery cure.
The non-hom. system I mentioned works also by miraculous "transfer of
information", without any bulk of matter, chemicals or physical radiation.
It was invented by a German chap, inspired by writings of W.Reich, so most
stuff is in G. language, another portion in romanic languages (french,
italian, portuguese), some also in English. I guess that is what you need
for your aquarium etc. Look for "PENAC" in a search machine like "google",
perhaps you can filter out languages that you have no access to. The name
would stand for either a brand of stylish pens, or for that system,
"Programmed energy accumulator" or "Plocher en.acc.(after the inventor)",
i.e. the device they produce their remedies with. Best seems to be
"www.penergetic.com", with english text, sales repres.es also in UK, Can.

it to thousands, who in turn seem to buy it 'cause it works.

... I am afraid there may not be any ( relatively ) QUICK FIX, but that the
way of agriculture need to be changed. Permaculture would be the solution,
I understand, wasn't that even developed in Australia ? - At least under
this name; similar approaches were developed in Europe and Africa, NGO#s
encourage alternative farming and reviving wise traditions in Asia and
south America. Out national edition of Green Peace magazine reported on
these issues repeatedly, to counter claims that Genetic tinkering was
needed "to help the poor" etc. - Another idea reg. salt: I remember a trick
I once saw in an techn. museum exhibit. They used naturally salt tolerant
plants, growing them in otherwise "spoilt" soil, harvesting and feeding
that to cattle, who liked it. So they sort of sucked out the excess salt
from the soil, over time. If you can ensure that factors which initially
caused the mess are not active anymore, you may be able to slowly turn that
piece of land suitable for "normal" plants again. Regards,
PantheraThe one thing I was reading about was sewage treatment with hom.
phos, if I remember correctly. I am not sure if you wouldn't need some
living beings ( bacteria ) to stimulate into some action. After all, where
should all the salt go when you give Nat Mur to "the soil", I meen it is
not clever or something. - Other thing I learned about for Envir.
amelioration was that PENAC system. That's dear old W.Reich turned into a
commercial product, seems to work 'cause the chap lives on this.
What it is used for: Mainly for treating all sorts of organic wastes in
agriculture, organic and also "industrial", so that they don't become an
environmental nuisance. Inventor said in an interview that >10 000 farmers
had already bought it from him ( he lives in a state/region with ~10 %
Green Party voters, that may make things understandable ). Second is for
degraded ponds and lakes. He works on a pay-me-after-success-basis here.
Then I read an article on a sewage treatment plant in Algeria he built
employing his system ( in 1998 ), plus it said several other Near Eastern
governments had also contacted him, even Saudi Arabia, troubled by heaps of
rotting sheep slaughtered during muslim pilgrimage. Then there was a
German Zoo, using his stuff in various ways, wastes again and ponds and
aquarium, and feed suppl. for a capibarah ( almost pig sized S. Amer.
rodent ) with diarrhoe, also prophylactic for hand-reared Orang Utans, both
with good results, said the report. Also a pet bird p;

Re.: "... I often wonder if areas of salinity could be treated... Does
anyone know of any work in this area ?", asked Jean W.Doherty; I replied on
the same day, citing from my memory.
Now I have found that article again ( of 1995 ) on Homoeo-stimulated
phosphor elimination from water. -
"Summary: The law demands phosphor elim. in the water purification process.
The chemical elim. of ph. is achieved through an engineering process which
leads to a salt accumulation blocking not only of the water drainage system
but also of the drawing canal with an increase of mud. The former biol. ph.
elim. process is not a very stable one and does not reach the minimum
requirements. It could be shown by a series of experiments that by analogy
with homoeopathy/isopathy when adding a potencised homoeopathic active
substance of phosphor, phos. would be eliminated below the legal limt of 1
mg/l total PO4-P in extensively ventilated activated sludge of waste water
purification plants. Biomass exhibits the strongest reaction when phos. D
30, resp. D 200 is added." ( summ. by the author, with some ling. flaws
corrected. ) - But that rested on stimulating microorganisms. I still doubt
you could trigger reactions hom.ally in pure physical systems, or could you
?
- The other, non-hom. thing I mentioned is on the IN, try PENAC or Plocher
( the inventor's name ) via search machine, I think they translated it into
English.
- Anyone else to add ?

Could you please give a more precise reference ? I am aware of some book
titles and reviews, but haven't yet read any myself and would like to know.
-To all: Anyone with a plant lice case cured ? I'd love to add this to my
collection 'cause I found a series of human head lice cases cured hom.cally

with a number of other rem.es also involved in each of these ). If that
works In plants as well, I'd find this exciting also for Miasm. Theory. /
What I found remarkable was also that apparently you can heal plants not
only with mineral hom. rem.es, but also those derived from other living
beings, which naturally they would never "ingest". /
Another question: In the Ignatia case I mentioned in my Tuesday post, where
someone had completely rearranged all the plant pots and some tender
creature seemed to be shocked by this disturbance of its living environment
and then recovered after rem. administered, the doctor had earlier told she
had successfully used the same rem. also on herself and human and animal
family members. That left me wandering to what extent humans can influence
their "pet plants" "homoeopathically", i.e. like sometimes animals need the
same rem. as their humans at the same time. After all there had been
research on plants reacting to music styles and different persons in
distinct ways. Don't know, but any experience also of this type from
others? -
Thanks to all who participated in the exchange, I enjoy this, there will

I had a look at biodynamic agric. sites to be sure. R.Steiner, an Austrian,
began this in 1924. These farmers' association is at "www.demeter.de" in
German. They write ( my rough translation ) "...preparations are applied in
fine doses, since they do not work by bulk/quantity, but through
~energy/information - COMPARABLE TO THE PRINCIPLES OF class. hom. ..." (my
capital letters), so it is not itself homoeopathic. They do their own
research and it seems to give them good results, plus working with cosmic
constellations/ lunar calendars, which even "ordinary" people adopt for
their small scale private use. Though I personally don't like Steiner
either, at least this was a good pioneering deed. After all, Organic
Farming, which he started in an organized way in modern times, is now
government policy, and the Demeter people are the second largest
association, so thank him for this part. "www.demeter-usa.org" did not
mention hom. use either. I thought I had read somewhere of comb. rem.es
used, but that may have been someone's own addition, not their official
tradition.

Have you tried the remedy for slugs and snails? Helix Tosta? I have - not great results, frankly, and I followed exactly what he said about only one application. I then got the remedy Slug from Helios, and have added this, in order to be more specific - it may have helped - not sure; the jury's out!
Lastly, have you any suggestions for black spot on roses? We have a terrible infestation this year, and i can't find anything in the book for this.

Hi Liz,

A group of us are about to do a little home-based research in this area.

Did you use the Helix tosta 6X as suggested by Kaviraj, or a different potency?

He claims the plant takes it up and that after one dose of 6X, snails will bypass that plant to eat unsprayed plants for 4 months.
