This is so strange! Is Ignatia extinct or is it still growing in the Philippines?

I found this one which is copyrighted: http://botany.csdl.tamu.edu/FLORA/mi01/mi01077.jpg
But I know *nothing* about flowers so forgive me if it is incorrect.

it would be good to have some good photographs of the plant in total, in parts, especially flowers/leaves/fruit/habitat. We use it a lot but it is largely unknown/or at least not well documented. I have now three photographs that could be Ignatia but could also be Strychnos tieute. There should be more clarity. I am also writing to Remedia, Helios, and , Gudjons Pharmacies for more information

Be well,

Roger

Hello Roger,

Did you ever contact Will Taylor re Ignatia, and did he resolve any of
your queries?

From what I have found the following thoughts come up.
Strychnos ignatii was used in the past to extract strychnine and was
later replaced by Strychnos nux vomica, because this species contained a
much higher amount of strychnine, so became more economical.
Another Strychnos, very closely related, vine, SE Asia, seeds smaller
than those of Nux vomica (like Ignatia) is Strychnos tieute.
Unfortunately, also of this species, no photographs are available.
We should ask the pharmacies to show the source of their material and
then go to those sources for botanically correct photographs of the
species. I will start with Helios and Remedia

Current position: same as before, except for two photographs in Bruno
Vonarburg's book Homöotanik, which he had to buy for a lot of money.
