Hahnemane says in the Organon, The aphor. where he instructs how to
take the case etc. that the maintaining cause that has to be removed
in most cases is a miasm-

Hahnemann obviously meant that practically in all cases of chronic
disease this miasm is psora.

This is why he gave the remedy he tought the most suitable for psora,
i. e. Sulphur or Hepar *sulph*, to all his chronic patients as a
starter and intermediate remedy (probably because the totality of the
symptoms of Sulphur are most similar to the multitude of symptoms
Carol mentioned)

Here are my (two) answers again--they weren't intended to be a course,
or comprehensive..

When the prescriber sees that the patient is exhibiting *any* active
miasmatic state, one thing that tells them is that it is not a local or
temporary sort of problem they're treating, and that the presenting
complaint(s) will not represent the whole of "what is to be cured."

Past that, recognition of *which* the active miasm(s) is/are, helps to
refine the choice of remedy, and may help give "heads up" about other
possible issues, ailments, and likely progress of the case.

[then she corrected that she'd meant to ask about latent psora:]
Knowing the active miasm tells you more about what you need to deal
with *now*; knowing the latent miasm(s) tells you more about what you
can expect to have to deal with the in future. Maybe there's more, but
that's what comes to my mind!

You still haven't explained what local or temporary problems are - what about the acute miasm, is this what you mean with these terms, I guess you don't mean that because an acute miasm then cannot be temp or local.

"Acute miasm" is another term which is used to mean at least two
different things.
Hahnemann used it to mean infection with an acute disease; others
recently (Klein, and ?) have used it to refer to a... how to describe,
a condition where the person is as if stuck in a condition of primal
fear, unrelated to current events.
Yes I did: injury; acute illness (meaning one which will pass on its
own, but we want to speed cure and alleviate symptoms), or
"indispositions"--effects of overeating, food poisoning, etc.
In what sense are you using the term?

Actuaolll I had not asked but just tried to explain about how H.
"solved" the problem of all those possible symptoms of "psora", i. e.
how he applied that to his treament.

However, we had long discussions about the sense or non-sense
(depending on the poster's opinon) on the German list. I am asing the
questionsthat came up there resp. those that I was interested in. They
were never clearly answered there.
