Life [was: Viruses are NOT alive

Post by Shannon Nelson »

If a term or quality applies to *everything*, then what's the point of
naming it?

There are some important and very easy-to-quantify differences between,
say, a stone and a tree, or between a dead mouse and a live one. What
value is there in muddying the term commonly used to note that
difference?
