pondering a dilemma

Post by Tanya Marquette »

i have someone who is dx with lupus and a brain aneurysm. the
discussion was that the lupus caused the aneurysm. i am wondering
about the progrnosis of tx with such a condition. obviously the entire
case needs to be taken, but i am concerned about understanding
necessary precautions with the aneurysm, in particular
any advice, experience to share, or material to study?

There is a strong accepted link between the two but this will be a critical condition that comes to the fore and may need treatment as an acute rather than part of the whole, depending what happens. Treating the totality can avoid a stroke occurring but if one does you can only go with what is presented. Early treatment is essential I would say (obvious).

Lupus involves such a lot of organs so the case taking would also have to be extremely thorough - not always an easy disease to treat but it depends on each case.

Personally I would go for the chronic totality initially unless there are obvious sx already that take this to an acute phase.

The last case I had was with a middle aged woman and her main fear was that this would happen, she had been diagnosed diabetic then lupus and because she had really bad headaches kept thinking she was going to have a brain bleed.

the stroke has already occurred--2 weeks ago. this is what lead to the dx
of lupus/brain aneurysm. she is still hospitalized--just transferred to one
where there is a major physical therapy unit. she is sufferring some paralysis
on the right side--arm and leg/thigh. just talked to her daughter (age 13) yesterday
