I wonder whether the Cuban health care community is aware of the
problems other countries have been having with their pharmaceutical
companies, and CODEX, and restrictive legislation in general--any idea?

i am quite sure that cuba is cognizant of what it might mean to open its doors to Us influence.
i am just as sure that there are revisionist elements in cuba that are eager to do so. people
are people and political positions run the entire range of possibilities there as everywhere
else. look what happened in china? of course the political trajectory was impacted heavily
by the ongoing threats from this america.
but cuba has one of the most developed health care systems in the world. it it universal and
free. they train doctors at the state's expense and have offerred to train americans as well.
in return for that free training, young doctors would be expected to work in poor communities
for a few years--3 yrs i think. what is good about their system is that they are open to other
protocols than the corporate pharmaceutical model. they still honor the holistic and historical
tradition of herbs and energy healing. let's hope they maintain this openess.
