to Pierre and Soroush....

Post by dontwurry »

Hi. Since this post originated with my homeopathic md's prescribing
Agaricus, I feel I should speak. though not a professional
homeopath, I feel that considering the fact that there are SO MANY
different ways of practicing homeopathy..(many useless or harmful, as
I am experiencing)
I have every obligation to my child to completely and continually
educate myself on EVERY school of thought re. prescribing remedies.

If I am trusting a homeopath, It is imperitive not to be led blindly
into accepting THEIR philosophy and prescriptions. From all the
enlightening posts I have receive from interested homeopaths on this
list, I am MUCH more prepared to decide how effective certain
remedies are, homeopathic's professional's opinions are, and also
what is SUPPOSED to be happening during this treatment. I have read
the disclaimer posted CLEARLY beneath each and every post. It keeps
me humble in the fact that, I, not being a "professional" am
extremely limited in my abilities to make judgements re. my son's
welfare in the hands of Md's not practicing homeopathy as Han.
intended or advised. I appreciate and encourage everyone to respond
to my and ANY "student's" of homeopathy questions... finding a good
homeopath is difficult enough. Most of what I've learned has been IN
SPITE of my homeopath's advice.

Next, could you (Soroush) PLEASE tell me the problem in prescribing
Agaricus 30c 3x a day if this is the correct remedy? Is it because
you believe only one dose should be administered and watched before
proceding? or is it because you suspect a proving may occur, and why
would it please? My son has been on this for 4 days now, and was
awake all night with a stomachache. I didn't give it this am. cough
and mental tics still bad as ever. Homeopath is not helpful and I am
forced to go it on my own limited knowledge, and the "suggestions" of
my new friends here. :)

Hello Mum with young coughing child!

Let us assume that Agar is the correct remedy.

If you give a well indicated remedy, sooner or later it should work.

When it does work, you should only repeat it if its action has come to a
halt.

In an acute because you may need to repeat quickly (sometime even every 10
or 15 minutes), it is best to 'plus' the remedy.

This is done by making a solution and then adding some physical energy to
it. There are two simple ways of doing this:

1- Put a pill in a bottle containing about 200 ml of water (cold and as pure
as you can get it)
replace the stopper tightly
Hold the neck and bang on the floor with a soft carpet or on the palm of
your hand 10 times.

2- Put the pill in a glass of water, then raise the water with a teaspoon
and allow to pour back in from 10-15 cm.
Repeat 10 times, stir and give 1 tsp to patient
This slightly increases the potency everytime and therefore you will comply
with instructions from Hn and Kent that the same potency should NOT be
repeated.

I was taught classically and believe that one should adhere to Hahnemann's
instructions until one feels that the Master has not covered an area. [This
is like writing a negative thesis so it needs a lot research and hard work -
you will find that he has covered most areas.] His instructions are that
the reaction of the patient's VF should be closely studied before the remedy
is repeated. This means that one has to WAIT and see the reaction and not
repeat too early. In a modern day analogy, if you have started your car's
engine, do you continue to turn the starter key with the engine running??

Apart from the risk of the patient proving a remedy, too early a repetition
has ruined many a case.
In fact Kent states that in one of his best cured cases he waited 60 days
for a reaction!!

So in an acute case, one should give the well indicated remedy. If there is
no reaction within the expected period (this depends on the severity and
urgency of the case - so the time allowed ranges between minutes to hours
[e.g. if a woman is haemorrhaging after childbirth you have only minutes to
control the situation or she will die! (Phos is often called for in this
situation)] ) then the plussed remedy is repeated. If after 3rd dose there
is still NO reaction, the choice of the remedy should be seriously
questioned.

If there is a positive response and the patient improves, the plussed remedy
only needs to be give again if the patient appears to deteriorate. So
observe the patient closely.

For chronic cases, I much prefer to use Hn's perfected way of prescribing a
remedy and that is the LM system. I have posted my instructions to the
patient's to a number of colleagues on this board before, should you or
anyone else require them, please let me know and I will send it to you too.

I hope this has been of help to you and other colleagues.

Lastly, homoeopathy is safe in well trained hands. And on this point Kent
says that he would rather enter a pit full of vipers than be treated by
inexperienced homoeopaths! [Although I believe that even a first year
college student of today is more experienced than a lot Dr Homoeopaths of
Kent's time]

I hope that your child makes a full and rapid recovery.

Good luck with your studies and if you discover something interesting,
please share it with the rest of us.

Soroush
