diabetic baby

Post by Rochelle »

Any ideas what to give a baby whose mother is ID diabetic and so he has low blood sugars. He is a day old and mum is giving him colostrum when he appears hungry and a little formula milk out of a pipette until her milk comes in fully. Baby was quite floppy but Mum had lots of pethadine and even morphine before the powers that be decided on a C section. The baby is dark so I think may become jaundice.
Thanks

Opium is actually a good idea but I won't be seeing mum again before going away but will leave 1 dose for her in case he doesn't improve in a day or so. He is very wide eyed for a new born as well!!

I have left an Opium with mum but she text me this morning to say baby was brighter and beginning to latch on so hopefully all is well.
(Am going away for 3 weeks tomorrow so am signing off!!! Will try to have a rest from homeopathy somewhere where it will hopefully be warm!!)
