In hindsight

A friend has just had a C - section because the cervix wouldn't open despite her being given drugs to cause contractions (don't ask!!)
She had the usual remedies with her but I had told her only to take Caul if dilated and the birth was slow.
In hindsight which remedy would have dilated her cervix?

Thanks sounds like it would have been Cimic which she did have with her but I would have wanted the mentals there too!!

This is perhaps one of those cases where the “usual” remedies aren’t right on. A local midwife had a case of a cervix that refused to dilate in a woman who was, as the midwife put it, “all hunkered down.” The remedy there was Calc-c., which produced both dilation and a baby in record time.

My opinion:

Depends if there was inertia.

I'd consider Caul 30C every 15 mins up to 1.5 to 2 hrs.
Then if there is inertia, I'd change to Secale 6C at 15 min intervals.

Caul is wonderful stuff. I have used it (aquoeus)
- to stop a too-early labor so the fetus can go to term
- to tone the uterus during gestation especially in a first birth for
an easy birth,
- to encourage the start of the birth when it seems too slow
- to close down the uterus after the birth (4 doses 30 mins apart)

I think she said she tried one (200C)!!! I went to see her yesterday. I also think she said she was having a backache labour so Kali Carb would have been better. She did have it with her in the kit I gave her but obviously was in no fit state to look at my brief descriptions of remedies.

Excuse my ignorance - but what is inertia? I have always been taught to give 200 potency in pregnancy. She reckons she did take 1 Caul.
Baby more alert today and starting to latch on.
