Hi everyone,
Do you know which US pharmacies mail out remedies to patients, and if
they can place the order themselves or if the practitioner has to place
the order?
I did have this info but lost it with a computer crash.
Many thanks.

such as opium or cannibis

Re: US Pharmacies that Deliver
Hi Tanya and Fran,
I think the issue with opium and cannabis is not their supposed
toxicity, but that they are "controlled substances"--never mind that
there's "nothing in 'em".
Nice having it both ways, huh? So
those need prescription in the US. Nosodes also need to be ordered by
the homeopath, but other than those, I think patients can order for
themselves. Or, the homeopath can order and have it sent and billed to
the patient.
I think any homeopathic pharmacy will mail if asked, and it's a little
quicker if the pharmacy is closer.
Two in the Midwest (both Madison, WI) are Quintessence (608-251-6915)
and Community Pharmacy (608-251-3242). These have a very good
selection, tho sometimes I need Hahnemann's broader selection (in
California), and sometimes even Helios--but that takes quite a bit
longer from here.
In Washington state, there's HomeopathyWorks (www.homeopathyworks.com,
800-336-1695), which also has on-line ordering (as does Hahnemann, but
not the other two).
The difference in mailing time isn't huge. If I order from a Madison
pharmacy, comes in 1 (if I call in the morning and ask for it please to
go out today) or 2 days; from Hahnemann, 1500 miles away, comes in
usually 3 days. All of these are good pharmacies--there are more too,
but I don't remember those names.
So, is that way more information than you needed, Fran?
Best wishes!
Shannon

shannon,
the reason they are controlled substances is because they are considered
toxic and dangerous--maybe not in the same sense at pcb's or ddt, but maybe
not. some seem to think they are.
all of the pharmacies have overnight or fast track delivery--for extra cost, or course.
even helios usually gets it to me within 4-5 days regular delivery service. if not an
emergency, this is just fine. and then, for those rx that cannot be gotten here, i am
happy to wait the extra couple of days.

Re: US Pharmacies that Deliver
The real reason for the problems with some remedies in USA (those not
in the HPUS) is that the FDA controls manufacture of homeopathic
remedies in the USA, and only allows those in the HPUS to be made and
sold freely as they have a "recipe" for making them in the HPUS,
*and* they have had at least one specific use proved, that is FDA
approved (It has to be a use considered suitable for some self-
limiting issue that would heal on its own anyway). This is also why
the remedies in USA are labelled with some specific "this is for....
exhaustion or whatever" and specific dosing instructions (take three
several times a day type stuff.)
Dolisos closed because of pressure concerning the non-HPUS
remedies once Codex came into play. Boiron bought them and chose to
ONLY supply the HPUS ones, to avoid the problem. Homeopathyovernight
(as an example) will IMPORT the non-HPUS ones thus providing them but
not making them. (I like to support them for supp;lying them all, and
not cow-towing to the HPUS fearfulness as Dolisos did. And I refuse
to buy Boiron on principle because THEY made sure the non-HPUS ones
became Rx-only.)
Anything not in the HPUS has to have a prescription if made in USA.
To get a remedy into the HPUS, you have to prove that it works for a
self-limiting disease.
(It's a bit more complex than that, but that's the nutshell version.)
Hence carcinocinum or anything for chronic disease, can not be in the
HPUS.
also Elixir but they have very little.
BEST supplier I know of is SImillimum in New Zealand - for service,
price and range.
Namaste,
Irene
