Re: screaming when startled
There is no rubric for this behavior, so you have to get beneath it. What is startling the Px (noise, approach of another, etc.)? What does she/he feel when startled? Are you dealing with a hyper-reactive nervous system, fears, or someone who’s seeking attention?
Peace,
Dale

Or, we can do a Boenninghaussen here.
Split this Symptom into its parts.
1. Sensation- screaming
2. Modality- Startling, (shocked etc ) agg
You will doubtless land with some remedies and conduct your search up
from there. Not some sure ground though, just one possible approach.

Also, are we talking about one short, sharp shriek of surprise (and how
does she feel and behave after), or something else? (There's Mind;

Re: screaming when startled
Well..i'm the patient. Here is my story:
I had issues in my jaw/teeth/mouth/glands that kept moving around..from left
to right and back...from the glands up to the ear..then just both molars on
both lower teeth...always worse at night. Felt fine in the morning. I took
this and that ...merc/heckla/sul...with some relief and finally settled on the
pulsatilla cause of the changing nature of the issues. The whole drama
settled down..and a couple of weeks later..an old symptom of screaming when
startled returned. I would be sitting reading, concentrating on something and
someone would enter the room quietly and i would turn to look, not expecting
to see anyone...and it was one long very loud scream. I wrenched my back from
that scream but what is worse..the next morning i had protruding
hemmorrhoids...which i hadn't had for the last 25 years..and when i did have
them..they came from taking homeopathic remedies. Of course, i can't remember
what those remedies were now...but this has made it painful to move around or
sit.
I did look at the boeninghausen books under shrieking and startled and hems.
i took nux 30c which had helped with other issues..and impatient that i am..i
also took sulphur cause another symptom of toes spasming had come back. I
said to myself..what would my dead homepathic doctor give me. And i settled on
200c calc carb. I had recently started eating eggs for breakfast every morning
and thought maybe that contributed to this. I have thought to go back to the
pulsatilla...but i'm not sure what dose to take and i don't want to go back to
the mouth problems. Somehow i think they are related...inflammation of some
kind...swollen veins...though in my mouth it was just a feeling of being
swollen. Of course the whole thing could be from the huge huge scream which
pushed everything outward ..muscles and all. I don't know why i'm tense like
that that i would scream. I think there was a tremendous amount of tension in
my jaw and the pulsatilla generalized it to the extreme sensitivity in my
body. I think that is a healing response..right? Going from specific pain to
generalized?
So i've taken the sitz baths and eaten a pound or so of green beans and i'm
going to go out and buy some hammelis lotion. Other than that and waiting i
haven't go a clue.

Re: screaming when startled
here's a far out thought--opium
it has the fear and the hysteria/shrieking.
i say this because it sounds like the startled response is
very extreme with that long and loud shriek. much as in
a hysterical response to something usually does not produce
such an extreme reaction.
just something to chew on

snip..............
Hummmm, the energy did seem to move from the top of the "food tube"
to the bottom of the "food tube", with a wrench in the middle, and
that is consistent with the law of cure (from the top to the bottom,
(sorry, couldn't resist
the play on words).
Not saying it's a cure, just that the energy is moving in what
appears to
be a positive direction.

Although I would consider general to specific more of a manifestation of the
direction of cure than the opposite....
