CODEX ALIMENTARIUS
http://www.homoeopathyclassical.com/codex.htm
Back in 2007 in Totnes, Devon, Ian Crane gave a fantastic talk on
exactly what CODEX is all about. At the beginning of the DVD, Ian
doesn't claim copyright to the DVD material and tells people that they
are free to distribute it in any way they deem fit.
I've transcribed the whole 90-minute tape on the above link. I would
URGE everybody to read it, because CODEX (with the backing of the
pharmaceutical companies and Monsanto, of course) are planning to do
away with all complementary healthcare, which includes homeopathic
remedies, flower essences, vitamin and minerals etc. etc.) This is due
to come into force DECEMBER 2009, unless it is rigorously contested! No
one will be allowed to buy or dispense homeopathic remedies in any way
shape or form unless they are medically qualified - i.e. doctor.
Many people cannot believe it will ever happen, because of all the
healthfood shops and alternative practitioners. Ian mentions how the
pharmaceutical company visited one such health shop and persuaded them
how much profit they could make if all their supplements were
synthetic. The public won't know, because a part of the CODEX
legislation is to remove all labelling from food. They are also going
to make the growing of herbs illegal - they will be classed as drugs,
the same as cannabis.
Please find time to read, and crosspost far and wide.

Re: CODEX ALIMENTARIUS
Here is also an 8 minute You tube - the first of 4, I think, that tells more about Codex. I would like to know if anyone knows anything more up-to-date, since I just started my Homeopathic studies and it looks like remedies will need to be prescribed in the future only by MDs? A little scary.
Thanks,
Carita

If you want the real scoop on Codex you have to follow the
Alliance for Natural Health who are actually doing the legal
work to fight for our rights under Codex. They could also use
your donations.

Re: CODEX ALIMENTARIUS
i was just sent some info from anh. it pretty much coincides with the info
that i receive from others such as natural solution foundation. nsf also
attends the codex meetings but a few months ago said they were relegated
to the peanut gallery of observation. i imagine they are in touch with anh.
what puzzles me is the hostility that nsf receives from some people. while i
have had my own reservations about a military person in the leadership
position of a seemingly progressive group, i have not found any problem
with the information they put out. some people think their focus on the fda
is wrong and diversionary. those people can chose to work on congress.
or write letters to editors or speak at rallys, etc.
what i don't accept is the need to trash a group with the kind of hostility
that i have read (not on this list). unless there is specific proof that nsf
is promoting wrong information, i think people can just leave them alone
and work in ways that reflect their personal analysis.

Re: CODEX ALIMENTARIUS
I agree that the ANH is the organisation to contact to help in the
fight against Codex.
Following on from my original email:
I've just been looking at the Alliance Natural Health website
(http://www.anhcampaign.org/campaigns/codex) and came
across "Misinformation about Codex."
My information that it was due to come into force December this year
originated with this petition I was sent:
http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/Vitamins/
At least for now we've got some breathing space. I'm going to see
if I can contact the 'owner' of the petition to find out where she
got her info.
However, forewarned is forearmed, as they say, and there's no smoke
without fire.

Misinformation about Codex
There is a rumour circulating that Codex will come into force on
December 31st 2009. This rumour is incorrect. This date actually
represents one of many implementation dates of the European Food
Supplements Directive and is nothing directly to do with Codex.
The text for the Codex Guideline on Vitamin and Mineral Food
Supplements, which has been based closely on the EU Directive—
sharing some of its text verbatim—was ratified in July 2005 but is
unlikely to finalised until around 2012 or 2013. It is only at this
time it is likely to be used as the basis for national and regional
laws in many parts of the world. To a large extent, Codex guidelines
on food supplements are irrelevant to Europeans as they simply
reflect the European laws on which they are based and it is the laws
that ultimately affect our access to products, not the Codex
guideline.
Many other guidelines and standards, for example those affecting
genetically modified (GM) foods and organic foods are complete,
although they tend to be subject to regular amendment.

Re: CODEX ALIMENTARIUS
Hi Tanya
I've listened to the u-tube presentations by Rima Lablow of NSF and
can't understand why people are so hostile towards them. However,
Ian Crane's DVD, recorded back in 2007, mentions the NSF and said
that they were at that year's Codex Meeting. He described them as
being an unknown quantity because they hadn't long appeared on the
scene and that at that Codex Meeting they "appeared" to undermine
the work of Robert Verkerk, Paul Anthony Taylor and Scotts Tips -
the three main people of the ANH.
Robert Verkerk is a scientist and have earned the respect of Codex
(according to Ian Crane). They don't take on board everything he
says but he has earned their respect.
That's why I think any complementary health
practitioner/firm/organisation etc would do well to join up with the
ANH and help them in their fight to protect their profession. Now
would certainly be the time to do that.

Re: CODEX ALIMENTARIUS
have been given the Dec 31, 2009 d-day for full compliance for
several years. i think what has happened is that the powers that be
have not been able to push it through as fast as they originally planned.
what anh should be saying is that the december date has been lost
due to world wide resistence from membership nations as well as the
public.
none the less, i am delighted to see that they are being held at bay for
a time. however, they do move forward inch by inch changing and
challenging local laws and public wishes. the fda has just banned a
form of vit b6 i am told (need for info on this one). but the fda did
successfully push through several (4) new laws that greatly empower
big pharma. and obama has appointed a corporate shill, tom vilsack
as head of the usda which is supporting gmo's and the demise of
oganic farming.
happily i can report a small positive--the local libraray has given me
a venue to talk about codex at the end of march, 09. so people are
beginning to show some interest. today at a local indoor farm market
i talked to a number of people who seemed interested to hear about
codex. for all their organizing around organic and local produce, they
knew nothing about this draconian effort to contol the world's food supply

Re: CODEX ALIMENTARIUS
ah, thanks for this info. your post suggests that we have the age old
egotism of the left demanding that they be center stage. i have been
getting NSF posts and it was their utube videos that were the first i
heard on the issue. but it was from a european contact in the early
part of this decade that i received a petition to the eu against the codex.
i do know, from nsf, that they have been traveling world wide lobbying
countries on codex. here in the usa they have mounted big campaigns
against the fda regs which support codex.
but it is true that with such an organized, well funded effort globally, that
all groups working against codex should try to shelve their egos and find
common ground on which to work.

Hi Tanya
Can I crosspost this, please? Where exactly would you be giving the
talk, in case anyone asks - providing, of course, you give
permission for it to be crossposted.
