thorn in finger

Px has had a part of a thorn embedded in her little finger for a long time. Not coming out, not always causing problems. Now it's started causing problems, solid sac, painful if pressed.

She's had extensive reconstructive surgery on her face because of an accident in childhood - Silica isn't an option here as she is scared it could affect all the "hardware" in her bone.

Any ideas?

I had a case of a chid who had something in her foot and there were red lines radiating from it which was why I gave Bufo 30 - I think a couple of times a day. It caused the expulsion of a plastic clothes tag 3 days later. Doctor had said there was nothing there!!

Silica will not cause expulsion of something that's *needed*--that's a
myth. Sheilagh Creasy is one who's talked quite a lot about this. She
said (in a seminar quite a few years back) that in--at that time--over
30 years of practice, she will use silica *whenever* silica is
indicated, and has never, ever seen it cause any problem with fillings,
implants, or etc. There was discussion on the list about that a few
years back, and a few people did give examples of times where a filling
came out after the pt took silica for something else--but in *every
one* of those cases, there was indication that problems had already
developed under the filling, such that the filling *needed* to come out
anyway, and the underlying tooth needed repair.

So if she needs silica, she can take it without fear!
That said, silica isn't always the answer to a splinter, anyway. If
there are indicators for an overall, "constitutional" remedy, that
might be the best way to bring about expulsion, but if not, you could
look at these rubrics:

I have heard that it's a myth and on the whole am willing to accept that. However in this case the px is extremely fearful, she's gone through years of surgery, has studied homeopathy and will not take Silica - so that part is a "done deal".. apart from that, Silica doesn't seem to match other elements, would be a therapeutic only, even if given. It's really interesting that ARN is so high in the rubrics though, I hadn't realized that. The flare-up started after she dosed herself with arnica after an op, so there may be a connection.

I find sellotape is the best answer to most splinters! (the substance, not the remedy )
