Eyes wandering- rubric help

I had a woman in yesterday who was unable to look at me. Her eyes were moving in every direction when talking to me. She was very loquacious, very anxious, fearful to take the remedy. She had come to me for an acute problem but this not being able to look at me was most disconcerting. She wasn't trying to hide anything, it was as if she was unable to look in one direction and keep her eyes there.

Hi Rochelle, I always remember Deborah Collins of New Zealand in a
seminar telling us how to tell the difference between spider and snake
patients; both have difficulty focusing on you for long - snakes the
eyes move back and forth sideways, spiders the eyes are all over the
place................

Thanks Liz for that - interesting. The more I think about it the more I am not sure what was going on.. If only I had a video!! She actually was not looking at me when she spoke to me. Her eyes would be focused at the side of me. Either side I think. I also think her head moved around a lot but am not sure about that. She came for an acute and if I got the right remedy she won't be back and if I got the wrong one probably won't either!!! Very nervous - possibly Ars constitutionally but I didn't take a full case. Very loquacious so I was also thinking Lachesis constitutionally which would go with what you said. Both have fear of being poisoned and she was really worried about what the remedy I gave to her would do to her!!

I don't know where this theory originates but I do not agree with it.
For example Lachesis eyes are piercing and will look steadily right
through you.

If I had a patient whose eyes went side to side, I'd be looking at
the "pendulum eye seizure" type rubrics as part of the case.

I also do not agree with the notion of starting with the remedy
(snake or spider) and trying to match a patient to it.
That's backwards.
Instead I consider it necessary to start with the patient - what
the eyes are doing exactly - and find the rubrics that lead to a remedy.

This eye wandering is NOT to be taken as a physical phenomena, first, in this case.

This is a mentally irresolute patient, and I think a broad "timid" label will do. (though will not hep much in the initial analysis)
