Anti-inflammatory was BP and cholesterol meds

Post by Luise Kunkle »

Hi Irene,

This has nothing or not much to do with thhis specific thread. I have
been meaning to ask this for quite some time:
1) What is in this connection meant by "inflammation"?

2) What is inflamed and which way is it inflamed?

Before your posts on the matter I had never heard about it.

Regards

Luise

Hi Luise,
Glad you picked up on that.
The functional unit of the body is the cell - we consist of cells -
each surrounded by a cell wall that decides what goes in or out of
that cell.

By anti-inflammatory diet, I refer to diet that protects the cell
walls of the body - to prevent cell level inflammation of the cell
wall due to such mechanisms as glycation for example (and I am not
referring at all to what allopaths call anti-inflammatory in the use
of immune system blockers like prednisone - or cell wall level
blockers like aspirin.)

An anti-inflammatory diet ensures the correct flexibility and health
of cell walls so that nutrients can easily enter the cells and so
that toxins can easily exit the cells, through the healthy cell wall.
The cell walls need to be very *flexible* to allow molecules
appropriately in and out. This means the phospho-lipid layer of the
walls needs to be very healthy and flexible - which in turn is
dependent on the right fatty acids being in the diet (eg EPA and DHA
from fish oil, and omega-9 from extra virgin olive oil) , along with
many anti-oxidants (from dozens of sources - I would say antioxidant
sources need to be a critically sought dietary category) and as few
glycation products (like gluey threads from glucose that gunk up the
cell walls and make them inflexible) due to eating too many
carbohydrates relative to protein, antioxidants and fatty acids) as
possible.
Cell walls: All carbohydrates are metabolised into sugar, mainly
glucose. It is sticky (like sugar). The microscopic threads of it
make little "ropes" from one cell to another, and criss-cross in
layers, making the cell walls relatively fixed in position - glued in
place as it were - so that they can no longer flex properly to allow
nutrient molecules in or let toxin/waste molecules out.

The diet needs to be balanced in favor of anti-inflammatory foods -
those with ability to enhance cell wall flexibility - versus those
with ability to reduce that flexibility. the sicker the person, the
more urgently they need a high excess of anti-inflammatory food to
reverse the damage. Anti-oxidants are the main source of chemicals to
undo damage. Dr Nicholas Perricone has severl books that explain this
damage and which tell you what foods are inflammatory or anti-
inflammatory and in what way.
We need not stop eating inflammatory ones altogether - but we need an
excess of ANTI-inflammatory ones to increase or maintain health.

If we keep substituting anti-inflammatory options for inflammatory
ones, the diet gradually gets healthier and healthier:-)

Namaste,
Irene
