Thanks all, for the info about crotalus-h. (And, if anyone's used it
as a chronic remedy, please let me know!)

Shannon,
Sorry for the delay in my response. Perhaps you will find my notes from my daughter's case of use... I posted this on another list but I think there's good info here on a "chronic picture" for Crot-H.
Crotalus Horridus envenomation creates leakage of blood cells into the blood vessels. Additionally:
- herpes
- suddenness of complaints
- hemorrhagic tendencies
- lethargy and collapse
- edema and cellulitis
Crot-H would rather die than be controlled. Crot-H patients are triggered by being trapped, cornered, obstructed, forced, overpowered, etc. There is a strong theme of being independent and strong, with an intolerance of being controlled. Yet, Crot-H snakes are actually shy, mild tempered, and calm. They are not aggressive by nature. Despite being large, they are difficult to provoke.
Crot-H can be Phos like. It is quite dynamic and useful even in not so grave circumstances.
And actually, unlike other varieties of rattlesnakes, it will only use its rattle when there is no other option. They are considered difficult to provoke into rattling or biting. But when they do bite - yikes. Their venom is highly potent and can be lethal. Their social awareness is higher than other species as well.
My daughter often appears Phosphorous-like as well. She's big into drama and performing and is usually quite bubbly. She would also let the whole world know if she was upset! :-) Like anyone she has her negative qualities as well and so much of Crot-H fits her to a T. In fact, I'm quite certain it is her simillimum. She has been on it for a little over a year now and not only did it take care of the purpura, hematuria (leakage of red blood cells), and proteinuria but also addressed her learning disabilities, short term memory issues, difficulty with reading and math, and "attitude." She turned from a struggling B - C student to a straight A student and no longer struggles with school. She used to hate school and now she "loves" it and loves reading and devours books just for fun. She has just really blossomed. She has also had perfect attendance at school this year which is outright astonishing given her track record! (Allergies, chronic infections, Guillain Barre).
Just as an FYI for anyone interested, the following rubrics of the remedy also fit my daughter's case:
obstinate, headstrong
extremely sympathetic
extremely sensitive to insults
extremely sensitive to being judged or left out (real or imagined)
suspicious and snappy
frank with opinions
vivacious, social, parties, dancing, playful
leader
popular, well liked
affectionate and talkative
loves animals and children
loves adventures and traveling
recurrent abdominal pains - violent stomach aches
aggravation waking her up at night during sleep
paralysis of hands and legs (temporarily following any viral illness)
craving for chocolate (which aggravates her), sweets, and creamy things
purpura hemorrhagica
fear of dark & ghosts
aversion to academics
history of infections and allergies
history of alcoholism in the family
Sadhana Thakkar's Snake Remedies book is a great resource!
Truly,
Erica

Erica, thanks so much! This is very helpful.
Was it Sadhana's book that led you to prescribe it for your daughter?

Actually our previous homeopath (Nancy Frederick) had mentioned it back
when the purpura started. But at the time, none of the modalities fit
and it was not such a crisis (i.e. she wasn't bleeding internally yet).
We had tried a few doses of it and it didn't seem to do anything. I
think it was definitely a remedy she needed but there was a layer on
top that needed addressing first.

It wasn't until we gave her the Lac Felinum that the case opened up and
became clear (it's really long and involved but I am working on a full
case write up).

Then when we were faced with the kidney biopsy and long term steriods,
I retook the case and determined she needed the Strep nosode to unblock
the case. It worked like a charm... (get it?) and when I went back to
review the remedies, Crotalus H symptoms were quite clear. It worked
quickly and dramatically and she has remained on it for over a year
now. I will be posting before and after pictures with the case on my
blog. The pictures are quite astonishing. I don't think she even looks
like the same child.

I bought the book later and was overjoyed at how much of the total
symptom picture fit.

Truly,
Erica

Hi Shannon,
Yes ... that's me. :-) This is the blog I use for homeopathy stuff unrelated to autism: www.pearlofhealth.blogspot.com . You can see I haven't had much time to write but I am planning a few articles for this month. Stay tuned as I'll post the before and after pictures of Delainey. Thanks for your very kind words!
Truly,
Erica
