Hi hopefully someone can assist me.
My 10 yr old with chronic cough... also stomach pain and Obsessive
Comulsive behavior with tics.
homeopath prescribed hyoscyamus 200c per day. His obsessive
behavior stopped, cough stopped except at times of stress or
excitement. Upon return homeo prescribed strammonium..12c 3x day.
Tics got worse, cough worsened, child had awful sensations. stopped
the remedy and symptoms subsided.
Next prescription was ignatia...didnt' help initially. cough tics
still bad, kept the remedy going....( remedy jar was open all
night ) kept giving it.. sypmtoms worsened so I stopped.
3 months later. Back to original chronic constant cough...during
any stress or excitable period (as bad as at first) tics ocd, homeo
suggested taking him to a neurologist.... who diagnosed tourrettes
syndrome-based on 2 or more tics, no lab tests done.
Now what?? son is a mess. Cranial sacral therapist suggested cough
may be due to stomach acidity? eliminate gluten and casein? take
acid test. We are worried about his throat lining. He says it feels
like something is there he needs to expell...cough sounds barking
and rattling at same time. Poor eating habits, food
sensitivities,eats little, unassertive,(but strong opinion)not shy,
mind foggy, says he feels confused. Dizzy and achey alot. especially
in morning. Symptoms disappear when he lies down to sleep. (even as
he lays awake in bed first) immature (very friendly and agreeable)
always chilly, although not small,is thin, is weakly, sickly (not
sick) "whimpy" sensitive to tough or words, whiny, wakes up tired,
doesn't heal well, will only eat a few foods, carbs and meat, eggs.
likes cold drinks, bananas send him screaming from the room. very
bright, but sloppy writer, little effort. hates school, socially
immature "Lazy" (tired, malnourished,) can't tolerate criticism.
Addicted to any electronic stimulant...tv, video games, cumputer,
(isn't allowed much) Terrified of needles (neurologist mentioned
strep. bacteria in blood mimics tourrettes?) OCD is in family's
genetic history,(ocd, depression, anxiety) likes being massaged
gently. Does anyone have a suggestion I could bring to our
homeopath?? thanks in advance H. ps besides all his symptoms, he
is a happy go lucky nice child.

Re: remedy ideas?
Suggest you find a different homeopath.
Just from the little you provide, it seems that the case should respond well
to proper homeopathic treatment. Remedies should generally not be repeated
too often(!) nor changed during a time of improvement.
If you'd like to say where you're located, perhaps someone on this list can
give you a referral; if you're in the U.S. or Canada, there's a referral
list which requires the approval of the current President of NASH (North
American Society of Homeopaths) for the homeopath to be listed, which you
can access thru my webpage, click on HOMEOPATHY link, middle of left side.

H.
Looking over the information you posted, the slow development
physically/mentally, sensitive to what others say, unassertive makes me
think of baryta remedies. Sloppy, lazy, stimulants - maybe bar-s. Baryas
generally like routine but get anxious when routine is disrupted.
I would want to know when the problem began, after vaccination, suppressed
eruption, etc.
be well

Re: remedy ideas?
Here are some rubrics to consider. The running from the room at the sight of
bananas is very much strange, rare and peculiar. There are only 3 remedies
in that rubric and Baryta Carb is one of them. Combine that with fear of
needles and you might wind up with Baryta Sil. Unfortunately, there is
almost no materia medica info to be found on that one. I would look at Bar
Carb and Gels. Gels has the feeling of a lump in the throat, respiratory
ailments and many other things that you have described. The Silica element
seems to be present and that could fit the case, especially as he doesn't
heal well and he is slow to develop - which brings us back to Baryta Sil
and/or Silica. I would look for Silica or some Silica compound, maybe even
Mang Sil or other.

Re: remedy ideas?
Hi Alan,
Bar-s is baryta sulph.
Since Sulph. is in the banana, averse rubric (also in your cough, rattling
rubric) it wouldn't be too far a stretch to look as bar-s, which you'll find
in Kent, Murphy, Vermeulen, & others.

Re: remedy ideas?
Hi Dave - Baryta-Sil is Baryta Silicatum. Bar-S. is Baryta Sulph, a remedy
with which I am quite familiar and have lots of MM on. I do not, however,
have any MM on Bar-Sil and I don't know where to find any. Anyone have any
out there? This is what Sankaran has to say about Baryta Carb and Silica in
his Spirit of Remedies:
Another remedy which comes close to Sil is Baryta carb. Bar c is the
exact opposite of Sil. This is because Bar c is someone who doesn't care
about his image. He is a fool and he knows it and he knows others know it
too. However, this does not bother him. Bar c is the dependent child of
the family. He is the child everybody takes care of and nobody is really
concerned whether he does well or not. It is accepted that he is a fool,
that he will do badly and that he will have to be supported.
This is Bar c, the exact opposite of Sil, and, therefore, they are
complementary. Bar c feels he is inferior:
Delusion legs are cut off
Delusion he walks on his knees
Taking the support of others.
Now that I have seen the above, I find it more likely than before that there
might be a Baryta and Silica connection in this case.

Hi Allen,
I find no reference to Bar-sil whatsoever.
Many references to Bar. & Sil. as complementary or where both listed with
reference to a particular symptom.
Do you remember where you heard of it?
