High temperature

Post by Rochelle »

I saw a child age 9 yesterday evening because the previous night she had croup and had been left with the typical barking cough. I gave her Causticum 200 because she was helped by sips of cold water and this is the remedy she has always responded to in the past. I spoke to mum just now and she woke before midnight a bit hot but at 3 a.m. woke with a burning fever and headache, frightened and crying. She was shivering with goosebumps and couldn't get warm under the duvet and blankets. Mum gave her 5mls ibuprofen and she slept until 10 a.m. The cough is much looser and better but she feels very tired. She has eaten a bit of toast.
1. I think it was the Causticum working its way through.
2. What could mum have given for the fever and headache instead of the Ibuprofen? Belladonna has never worked with a fever with this child. I think Nux Vom because it is in the Follows on Well section of Causticum and it deals with shivers with a fever. What do others think please.
Thanks

Rochelle,
Bryonia has dry hacking cough, generals - better cold drinks, headache, hot face.
Aconite, I find useful in many situations like this where there is fever, cold sweat, ear

Mum did have an Aconite 200 as I gave it to her in case the croup started up again last night . The fever I think was quite sudden.
Good thinking Beverley

Dear Liz,
I had given Mum Aconite in case the croup started again but it didn't she had the fever instead and mum thought because it wasn't the croup starting up again she couldn't give her the Aconite. At 3 a.m. it was out of hours for the Homeopathic helpline number.
The latest on the child is that she is much better She slept most of yesterday after the remedy which she probably needed and today she is coughing in small bursts but it is not a bark anymore. I will be seeing her on Tuesday as her brother has an appointment.
