DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Alicia Binion is heartsick and stunned at the same time.Cody Schrout, 12, never woke up Friday morning at the family home near Daytona Beach.

Binion was at work while Cody and her other children were home with Binion's stepfather."I called there because something told me something was wrong and my daughter tried to wake him up. He was dead, gone," she said. What led to Cody's death is still under investigation, but family and friends have been told along with WESH 2 that it was likely chicken pox -- an illness they didn't know he had.

Cody fell off a skateboard last Saturday and complained of a knee injury. He was running a high fever Monday so the family took him to the hospital and sent the child home with something to relieve fever.

Then Binion noticed a few red bumps."I've never seen chicken pox. I've never had them, so no, I thought it was just a heat rash from the fever," Binion said.Binion said Cody was vaccinated against chicken pox, and actually had a mild case four years ago while living with her mother, yet it may have claimed his life. The results of more tests are being awaited before they can determine for sure what caused Cody's sudden death.A chicken pox outbreak occurred at Spruce Creek High School in Port Orange on Thursday where 40 students have been diagnosed. It's not likely there's any connection, but officials are looking into it.

I'll send an update when the true cause of death is known. I suspect it was the fever suppression.

Can someone say more about the antipyretics-glutathione-detox
connection?
Is that Tylenol, aspirin, Ibuprophen--antipyretics in general? I
recall that aspirin in particular is now not recommended for kids with
fever because of the small risk of Reyes Syndrome--is that the same
issue, or an additional one?
