Tupelo Honey for Diabetes
Tried some last night, my blood sugar went from 250 to 290 but that was with other food. Will try it today from a fasting state, currently 230, and see what happens.

Susan, 230 is far too high and you really should consider bringing it down if necessary with Metaformin which is the only (allopathic) thing I would consider if my BS got that high. You are risking all sorts of complications later if not.

Then I suggest you may have to go onto Insulin if you can't get it down. You can;t afford to take the risk with your future health. Have you tried Insulin 30?

Re: Tupelo Honey for Diabetes
Honey is a bad idea in diabetes - it is carbohydrate.
So far - everyone I know with such high sugars is eating huge amounts
of (toxic to diabetics) carbohydrates, and the high BG is no surprise
if so - and likely to continue to go higher as the carbs do more and
more damage to the pancreas.
It is a choice - it can be reversed......
It sure looks like you may eat far too many carbohydrates to expect
increasing health. How many carbohydrate grams do you consume per day?
And do you ALWAYS (wisely) eat protein first?
If my BG was up there, I'd go down to 4g of carbs per meal, and 5
meals a day.
(You could not pay me to use metformin either - I'd consider Novolog
temporarily, 4 units at a time max.)

Re: Tupelo Honey for Diabetes
Hi Rochelle,
When I took the Tupelo honey, I was told to take it an hour or so before eating, then allow time for the adjustment, which was told to me that it was 15 minutes or so at least, but NOT in conjunction eating. I do not think I would use this situation though to experiment, but rather when circumstances allow a little leeway to check for individual differences. I was very very sick and it worked but it is still better to know how something affects oneself before getting into a situation which needs immediate adjusting if at all possible.

Re: Tupelo Honey for Diabetes
You're reading too many research reports and not listening to real life experiences. I've been in ketosis, eating NO carbs and my blood glucose went UP overnight. That's not eating too many carbs. If I don't eat after awakening, still in ketosis, my blood sugar keeps going UP, staying over 200+ until I eat. That's a liver issue. Testing urine, NO glucose present. When I eat a carb, then glucose will show in urine. If I eat a fat/protein, no glucose in urine. In either case blood gluocose may go up or down.
Last night went to bed with 139, woke up at 315. I took 2 teaspoons Tupelo Honey, 1/2 later blood glucose still 315. Took another 2 teaspoons Tupelo Honey, hour later, blood glucose at 260. Just took another 2 teaspoons. Will retest in an hour.
Remember how "research" said eating cholesterol leads to high blood chol? Same thinking here. This Tupelo honey may have certain polysaccharides and other specific carbs than are beneficial to blood sugar regulation.
I've already had 4 teaspoons of Tupelo honey and my blood sugar is going down not up. I won't eat anything else for awhile. I'm surprised but so far delighted! I can also tell by how I feel, better! Must be synchroncity as I read about it here and found it on sale at a street fair on Sunday. If you study metaphysics, you'll understand why these events hap pen and understand to expect them.

Re: Tupelo Honey for Diabetes
At the moment I haven't got any but have asked my local health food shop if they can get some for me. Also at the moment my fasting blood sugars are very low - I have never had such a long stretch at < 5 ( <90) so I must be doing something right!!! Last night before bed it was an amazing 79 and this morning 85 so I am not complaining. I like to keep things in like Gymnema for emergencies.

Hi Susan,
Well that's encouraging!
Normally, if you wake with it that high and do not eat over the next
few hours (in other words, if you did everything the same as this
morning *except* no Tup. honey), would your BG typically drop, rise, or
stay the same?

Re: Tupelo Honey for Diabetes
I work with diabetes and have it, so no that is not entirely true -
I do both.
However - you seem to not want to say anything about what you DO eat,
and what drugs etc you do take, and I can not "see" a picture without
that:-)
