Voice loss- update

3 Arnica 30 and then 3 Phos 30 later she reckons there is no improvement. I was listening to the radio in the car yesterday and it appears that this is a virus of the larynx going round where people lose their voice but are not ill. So maybe I should be looking in the laryngitis rubrics?

Would Drosera be helpful here? Not usually known for painless laryngitis, but it has been used successfully, esp. if the Px is of a tubercular type.

There is no cough!! Today she herself took an Argentum Nit!!! She had it in and thought she would give it a try. I haven't heard anything since!!!!

There doesn't have to be a cough. Here's one of Lippe's cases (from Reference Works):

Miss M. P., aged twenty - four years. Aphonia; could hardly speak even in a whisper; no pain either in larynx or chest. The trouble had existed for several years. April 24, 1875, gave Dros.200 in water, morning, noon and night.

May 7, voice little stronger; Dros.200, dry, night and morning.

June 12, entire restoration of voice.

Both her parents brother and sister had died of phthisis pulmonalis. At the date cited, her lungs were in good condition; but she has quite recently succumbed to that unconquerable foe. However, during the intervening three years, she had not the slightest recurrence of aphonia until a few days previous to her death. Dr. William J. Guernsey.

Lady, 25 years old; came under by treatment suffering from what she termed asthma. About two years ago, while residing in London, she was with a number of children exposed to the whooping-cough; the children all contracted the whooping-cough, while this lady also suffered from a cough while was treated by a learned specialist in London, who pronounced it "bronchitis." The lady was sent to Brighton, and there became asthmatic; returned to London, and the learned pathologist tortured her for six weeks; at last a diarrhea ended the attack, and she was then ordered Ars. for six months daily three times, besides other tonics; she was reduced to a skeleton.

This summer she returned to Philadelphia, and was again attacked with violent asthma, for which she took first Lobelia in large doses, each dose for the moment palliating the asthma; but finding no permanent benefit, and growing worse under that palliative treatment, she desired homeopathic treatment. The first remedy administered for the nightly return of the asthma, which did not permit her to lie down, but made her very restless, was a solution of Ars. CM (Fk). The great restlessness ceased; she began to cough and expectorated great quantities of white, ropy phlegm; cannot lie down; Coc-cac. CM. (Fk). Very much relieved her for a fortnight.

Now came another exhibition of the disorder; the cough is much worse, shaking her all over; < from 9 PM till 1- 2 AM; diarrhea also appeared; very frequent, dark, almost black, loose, painful evacuations with much mucus; violent palpitation of the heart in the evening; Phosphorus CM. (Fk) every two hours for twelve hours relieved the palpitation of the heart, the diarrhea and wheezing breathing. She could now lie down but in another week the cough came on in paroxysms, coughed more at night; the irritation was described as coming from the diaphragm, causing a catching of her breath, and a real whoop. A single dose of Dros. CM (Fk) very soon relieved her, and she has since then been free of any complaints. Dr. Ad. Lippe.

I think she is going to order the Nat Sal for herself since she is not coming to me for a proper consultation and I haven't got the remedy in.........
