I just caught the last couple of minutes of a Public Radio bit on it
this morning. The said that it is behaving similarly to the 1918 one
(oh, great) in that it can provoke a huge (excessive) inflammatory
response, and can cause the lungs to fill with fluid, sometimes causing
death in that way. The guest said that in this outbreak, similarly to
the 1918 epidemic, it is the young and healthy who are more at risk,
because their healthy immune systems are more susceptible to throwing
the excessive inflammatory response. I wish I'd heard more...

So it could be useful to look back to Perko's book on the 1918 epidemic
and see which remedies were particularly useful at that time?

Oops, I made an accidental assumption! My memory is that the 1918 flu
was hemorrhagic, wasn't it? I haven't heard anything like that with
regard to this one, and I don't remember whether "lungs fill up with
fluid" was a common observation in 1918. But still those remedies
would seem worth a look...

Gels was the main one.

But why wait to get it?
If you really think your area is at risk, then use some Influenzimun
as a preventive.
