Hi,
I think I have Lac-e (mare's milk) patient. She fits Phos in many particulars, but the general picture fits Lac-e. EH 2 has some good cases. I am wondering if others have experience with the remedy and would agree with my choice. The lac-e symptoms have a +++ before them. I thought of the remedy originally through Mangialavori's description. Concern with serving others to the point of anxiety, sports love, alcohol aversion/agg, Family center. Loyal. Very high sense of dignity. Frustrated by not being able to achieve her dreams but has many excuses. Concerned with pleasing others. Wants to learn from someone who is superior to her. Naive about the bad intentions of others like a Phos.
Best,
Ellen

Re: Lac-equinum case?
Dear Ellen,
In my experience with the Lac remedies, generally there’s an underlying state of deprivation of mother love – although this person’s devotion to mothering would also potentially indicate one of these remedies. I think we just don’t have the depth of clinical information on the Lac remedies (other than lac-c) to make it easy to know when they are indicated.
What other remedies have you studied in your differential analysis for this case? To me, in your description, the two outstanding things that HAVE to be central to the remedy that will work are an incredibly strong concern with social position and fear of losing hers, along with the volatile hypertension.
Is she chilly or warmblooded? If one or the other, it could help eliminate some possibly well indicated remedies.
Veratrum or Anacardium or Lycopodium sort of come to mind, but her intense interest in social structure and rank makes me wonder also about various mineral remedies: Baryta? Kali? Aurum? Possibly Ferrum? If her skin is itchy, that would make a difference in the likely remedies, along with the thermal modalities.
I wonder why she gave up the power trip she obviously loved, as the athletic trainer, to be a mother?? That would be interesting to know – if it indicates a muriaticum, for instance, rather than a carbonicum or a sulphuratum. It doesn’t sound like it was a sense of duty, but if so, it might make Lac-e stand out more?? If it amounted to a calling to be a mother, then I’d look more carefully at muriaticums.
I also wonder what happened when she was 20 that made the constipation start then? Sometimes constipation can represent a reluctance to share or give – an emotional basis, rather than strictly physical one.
What miasmatic influences do you see in the case? There’s some sycosis, for sure – possibly a lot, since there seems a contradiction between the outer persona and the inner one. Also a fair amount of psora and some tubercular.
The fact that with aging she’s losing some mental competence made a Baryta higher for me on the possibility scale.
With the hypertrophic thumbs, I wondered if that could have something to do with how the hands are used in ping-pong – extreme use of certain muscles will cause the bone as well as the muscles in those areas to enlarge over time. Otherwise, the description of her hands might make one think of a remedy in the Aurum or Baryta spectrum.
The case presents a lot of questions, I think – very interesting. Please let us know what you decide to give and how it goes.

Re: Lac-equinum case?
Interesting observation Rosemary. My experience with the lac
remedies has been almost entirely in cases where abuse (physical
and/or emotional) was a key factor - but in thinking back over the
situations - the abuse occurred after loss of mother, or loss of
mother's love when mother re-married, etc. I've never had a case
where the Lac remedies fit 'powerful' individuals - so it will be
interesting to see how this case proceeds.

Re: Lac-equinum case?
Hello Ellen,
I mentioned your case to Patricia Hatherly who is writing a book on the milk remedies and her comments are below.

Glenda
My first thought is that it’s more likely to be lac asinum…..sort of a horse J
Lac-as is close to lac-h and this picture is more lac-h…good Ego (the thumb is the Ego digit!!!). Also keep in mind that the ass is sure-footed. There is strength in the appendages.
Lac-eq is a slave to work..for the good of the group (as in Animal Farm….Boxer). Lac-eq will slave away for the kids/family…workaholic; have issues with money.
Lac-h works to get approval and then reaches a point where she says “Stuff it…it’s actually more about me so the rest of you can go and sort yourselves out.” (but actually she’d probably use rude words to share this)
There is a doggedness/obstinancy in lac-as…beast of burden (debt = burden???) with performance anxiety linked to possible low self esteem due to being put down/unacknowledged/ridiculed…as in all the common derogatory terms used to describe an ass. This lady’s critical talk about others is probably her compensation for being ridiculed….the essence of the asinine state.
Provings by Chetna Shukla; Mueller and Lamonthe…latter is in the MM of Milk but Shukla’s proving is the best and only properly-conducted one. The other two were dream and seminar provings.
Cheers

Re: Lac-equinum case?
Dear Glenda,
Thank you so much for sending my description to Patricia Hatherly. I will let you know how the story progresses.
I think you have to take the patient's story the way it is presented. She didn't have problems with money as she saw it.
The people around her have issues with money and she should to, but that is not how she presents herself. Money is not the problem. It's all about reputation, her accomplishments. Her husband was not bringing home his income. Japanese women keep the purse. So this is very odd. She was getting money from her mother and earning money as a coach and sewing curtains at for the shop near her house. She way she presented it was she had the industrial machine so they always gave her work, not that she was over worked or resented even her husband. He had mistresses and was giving away money because he was brought up with wealth. So, she paints the picture like he was simply not in the picture. She coached often as a volunteer and that seems to not have been an issue. Throughout her live she never ceases to have numerous teams under her wing. Also throughout all of this she learned various sports under the private tutoring of coaches who we paid in the hundreds of dollars per hour. This continues as her family tradition although her children are much more wealthy.
Currently her kids are all wealthy and she brags about their lavish life. But she doesn't really have much money. I think they support her. Not understanding how her money is managed and losing it because she is not paying attention (aging??) is the issue. This she talks about to everyone without shame.
I think it is a problem when you have a patient who is essentially very strong. Remedy pictures are based on weakness.
Best,
Ellen

Re: Lac-equinum case?
Hi all,
I think the issue is mothering. Every anxiety is phrased as if the person she is having trouble serving is her child. She quit coaching the All Japan team to mother. Even her grandchildren call her Mama because she raised them. This might be important for understanding a milk (if it works). I'll have to see. Many authors (Mangialavorie, Sankara) talk about rubrics that have poles to them with an issue in the center.

Hi Ellen,
The pictures aren't based only in weakness, but also in characteristics
that are exaggerated and/or unusual--either in themselves, or in
context. I haven't read much of the prior posts on this (been gone),
but bragging about her lavish lifestyle certainly seems distinctive.
(Is Lyc. possible?) Spending hundreds of dollars an hour for lessons,
tho she doesn't have much money, also seems extremely unusual...
Cheers,
Shannon
The pictures aren't based only in weakness, but also in characteristics
that are exaggerated and/or unusual--either in themselves, or in
context. I haven't read much of the prior posts on this (been gone),
but bragging about her lavish lifestyle certainly seems distinctive.
(Is Lyc. possible?) Spending hundreds of dollars an hour for lessons,
tho she doesn't have much money, also seems extremely unusual...
