Ferrum Metallicum - Deadly Resonance?
Hi Shannon,
I'll respond to what you asked seperately but I thought I should report on my experiences with this remedy for anyone who thinks random homeopathy is completely safe. I took a 200C dose of Ferr Met a few months ago based on a well thought out rep that Dr. Marco did for my partial torn rotator cuff. I remember it putting me into a negative lousy mental state and feeling buzzing sensations along the arm and shoulder with the tear. During two weeks, there was improvement of pain, range of motion and tiredness of the arm. Then I took a 200C of my Ramakrishnan constitutional (also on Dr. Marco's rep but lower score) and the arm improved even more. That improvement did not occur when first taking this constitutional.over the summer prior to Ferr Met.
After a couple of months, I felt the arm starting to worsen, but not that much. So, I thought, why not repeat this process? I took another dose of Ferr Met 200C. Again put me into a negative mental state. During the first 2 weeks, had no noticeable changes to arm. I thought, let the remedy keep acting into week 3. Simultaneously, my blood glucose readings showed super high numbers, into the 300-400's, mentioned in other threads. I reacted to everything I ate. I felt physically lousy. Last Thursday, I went for acupuncture, my energy healer puts his hands over different body sections and "talks" with innate. (Chiro equivalent of vital force). He also uses an Accugraph machine hooked to computer which measures 9 different energy meridians based on TCM. Those readings were way way down. He said while placing his hands over me that I seemed to be "dead" in heart, liver, kidney areas. He seemed concerned because it was his last day before a South African vacation and wouldn't be back for 2 weeks to treat me. I felt like I was dying. I also developed a new, never before shown, one inch oval skin eruption on my left forefinger. It was slightly puffy with a purplish color and felt rough but looked shiny like I had singed the area on an iron. It felt weird to touch.
I knew it was the Ferr. Met doing this. And it wasn't wearing off, I was getting worse. So on Saturday I took 200C of my constitutional and IMMEDIATELY felt better, A whoosh overcame me and I started to have positive energy, my blood sugar which was over 200, now showed 160. I took a 2nd dose that night and have been much better since. No 300-400 blood glucose readings since, Thinking and feeling clearer, great energy. The finger skin eruption is returning to normal color and is shrinking. No improvement in the arm but hasn't worsened.
I know many think homeopathy is innocuous, if you take the wrong remedy it does nothing. That is wrong thinking. You may not realize the reactions that someone may have when a remedy resonates negatively instead of positively. This also reinforces why not to repeat remedies unless there is a clear indication to do so.
I wonder if one's vital force is damaged by taking remedies that resonate negatively followed by those remedies which are positive.
Has anyone given Ferr Met as a constitutional?

Hi Susan, list;
before taking for granted what you said below, i. e. "I knew that it
was the Ferrum metallicum" - you (plural) should perhaps re-read
Ercica's follow-up on the presumed effect of Calc. carb.

Re: Ferrum Metallicum - Deadly Resonance?
Hi Luise,
It seems the first time one takes Calc Carb, they may severely aggravate. I did at 200C Dunham potency, SEVERELY. Per Dr. Ramakrishnan's recommendations, Calc carb 200C ***must*** be taken 3 pills, 4x in one day DRY or you will aggravate. He ***may*** be right, but I will never know since that was the 2nd time I took it, albeit years later. Possibly Calc carb aggravates some the first time and then not later whatever potency.
As for Ferr Met, pretty much same negative reaction both times except for arm improvement the first time then I stopped it after 2 weeks, this time 3 weeks.
Somewhere, Organon(?), Hahnemann wrote about not letting a remedy action continue if negative as it damages vital force, I'm saying it may not be obvious to the homeopath that a remedy is resonating negatively.
Last time I had a negative resonance was a dose of Mercury, my head felt burning for 3 months until I decided to take my first constitutional, then burning stopped. I think it was 12C and had read you need to use same potency of another remedy to antidote action of current remedy. I think I wrote about it years ago on the "other" list.

Could I ask you this: all the symptoms you attribute to the Ferrum, are they genuine, meaning belonging to you, something you have experienced at one time in your life or do they seem to you as caused/provoked by the remedy?
I hope my question is clear.....

I would suggest that what is described below isn't the right way to use
remedies. 'Why not repeat', without reliable indications, is asking for
trouble, more especially if you know that the same remedy/potency caused
a 'lousy mental state'. And choosing remedies and potencies for yoursef
could very well result in unwanted reactions. Don't do this.

Hi,
Isn't this sort of reaction to a remedy indicating that the vital force
is just a bit too overwhelmed to cope. You are proving the remedy, but
if you are already healthy the proving should leave you healthier
afterwards. Interesting that you first noticed this sort of reaction
with a dose of Merc. My thinking is that if the vital force has been, if
you like, held prisoner by some sort of toxins, eg. Mercury, or other
overwhelming chronic disease state, then any remedy can potentially
cause this sort of negative effect, simply by being more than the body
can handle - so it is a good indication for organ support and drainage
remedies, to make sure the vital force has enough energy to respond
well.
I have had similar reactions to remedies and I find I am gradually
getting healthier, by which I mean less reactive in a negative way, by
using herbal and nutritional supports - and I also need thyroid
replacement hormones - It's a bit like putting a plug in to the bath
before you try and fill it with water - or probably a more consistant
image is to pull the plug out of the bath so all the rubbish can drain
without causing a flood.

Re: Ferrum Metallicum - Deadly Resonance?
Hi Susan,
Just a qiuck thought, since I'm on a weird computer
I think it's important to evaluate your reaction to the ferrum met in context of your common pattern of response. You said you commonly have a two-week aggravation *before* every improvement, on your constitutional remedy--did I remember that right?
The meaning I was taught for this situation is that the vital force is struggling hard for equillibrium, and struggling hard to make use of the remedy's instructions / information, whatever. In that context it seems unsurprising that you might have an unusually high chance of aggravating from other remedies as well. While I think it's great that you're so willing to "stick your neck out" and *try* things, I think you need to do it more carefully and thoughtfully than would a person with greater reserves.
So basically, I'm agreeing with you that homeopathy is not *always* a therapy that can "at the worst, do nothing". For probably most people that is indeed the case; the body just won't respond much at all to an incorrect remedy. But for anyone dealing with serious or severe chronic health issues the situation can be more complicated, for a number of possible reasons, and it's best to--at least--make sure to check with your homeopath before taking a non-prescribed remedy. It sounds like your situation has worked out fine (and I gather you did get some benefit from that first dose of ferr-met, right?)--but be kind to your poor ol' system, while it works to put things in order!
(And I'm very glad to hear that Dr. Ram's remedy choice seems to be helping!!)
Cheers,
Shannon

Re: Ferrum Metallicum - Deadly Resonance?
Hi Shannon,
That "weird" computer is much better since message came through w/o the html code as your others do. Possibly you're not using a Mac. Thanks for the informative post.
As for the Ferrum Met., to clear things up, I took it to affect a partially torn rotator cuff based on Dr. Marco's well thought out rep, posted here. Before taking it I read up on it, happened to see a homeopathy book with a discussion on it which led me to believe it could also have a constitutional action.on me. So, I took it at 200C and right away started to feel lousy mentally. During the 2 weeks I let it act, it did act like a constitutional and took me through my usual aggravation/amelioration cycle of 2 miasmatic illnesses. (For those reading, wondering, I have 2 seperate distinct inherited miasmatic illnesses, one sycotic, the other syphilitic, which is why I sometimes refer to using 2 constitutional remedies)
During the 2 weeks, the affected arm had various sensations, vast improvement, less pain, greater mobility, etc. After the 2 week action, I didn't feel better overall (though the arm did), so I took a current constitutional which immediately made me feel much better overall and improved the arm more. Couple of months later, arm started declining so I thought, OK, repeat the process. Same negative feeling on taking the 200C Ferr Met with absolutely no effect on arm during first 2 weeks. So, I thought, let me go to week 3, which is where I felt increasingly worse. I call this increasing negative resonance. The remedy action wasn't diminishing, I was feeling worse, developed that weird first ever purple skin erupiton, and was testing negatively on TCM acupuncture energy meridians along with my energy healer sensing negative actions going on which concerned him.
So, after 3 full weeks on Ferr Met, I took a constitutional which *immediately* made me feel better, a complete 180. Now into week 2 of constitutional, I'm on my 2nd aggravation/amelioration in my cycle, as expected. Here, I'm forced to reverse my diet, stop Atkins, eat carbs and low fat. That will end shortly, a grand finale amelioration by Thurs/Fri and then remedy action wanes over next few weeks.
Shannon, these are a set of mini aggravation/ameliorations, one for each miasm, lasting about 2 days each, during 2 weeks, followed by a much larger complete fantastic ecstatic "cure" amelioration at end of 2 weeks, lasting a day or so. Not, 2 aggravations then one amelioration. .
So, for those who know me, I've been trying to figure out these years how to reduce this 2 week cycle while extending the fnal "cure" amelioration. I thought LM's would allow me to but it didn't work using first constitutional, I got same cycle just less intense and each aggr/amel went faster but was not avoided. Trying to take as LM more often made matters worse, so that daily adminstrations of LM may not fruitious. Now, will try LM with 2nd constitutional in the future.
Also possible, one miasm may be more suited to C potency while the other to LM potency of their respective constitutional remedies as one miasm is constant, the other progressive.
