Basically I did not see this as a Seroxat withdrawal or side effect problem but this did make for an interesting discussion:-)
Her presenting complaints were a feeling of being unbalanced physically and emotionally, disorientation, fear and despair and tinnitus (which is not there all of the time)
She gave some lovely metaphors but of cause trying to look them up is a nightmare:-
"I feel this pressure in my head. It's like I have a tyre pumping up from the neck upwards including the ears. I have had it all morning and have it most days."
"I feel like I am in a coma and I'm waking up and I need to get my life back on track. The feeling of unbalanced physically means feeling in a state of intoxification. I can't focus my eyes a lot of the time."
I feel unstable as if I am slipping on a piece of fruit. It a feeling of not being solid or grounded but wavering. If I turn my head quickly or knocks off the balance. Everything is right as my right ear is worse with the tinnitus. I am evening. When I am particularly unsteady my tinnitus is worse." She described the tinnitus as a hiss or whistle
Fear - crowds, she can't go shopping during the day but goes in the evening. She can't go shopping on her own because of a fear that she will become ill. She used to be scared in case she fainted but she has never fainted. Panic attacks - if out on her own and when in a queue in the supermarket which is why she has to have someone with her.
The only food desire is shrimps!!
She was beaten up (not badly) when she was 18 (is now 53) by someone who went on to kill someone with a knife and was jailed.

"I didn't tell my parents about any of this because they would have just apportioned blame on me." Childhood- "I was always in the wrong and was never good enough. I have 1 brother who was the apple of my parent's eye. "
As usual I am open to suggestions if anyone has the time to make any. I feel there is a lot to come out yet.

Hi Rochelle,

Do you know whether the vertigo, head pressure, tinnitus and
agoraphobia have all (or any) begun since she started or stopped the
seroxat? Did it (starting or stopping it) bring on new symptoms or
worsen old ones?

She says, "I feel like I'm in a coma and I'm waking up"--was that after
taking a remedy or other therapy, or ?

Also,

Ouch, that sounds like an event to mine further... Has she talked
about anything like how/why she was beaten up by him, and how she felt
and feels about the events--does she feel she deserved it, or guilty
for being a survivor, or dirtied, or suppressed something, or ?? Does
she describe that as an event that changed her, or does she feel she
recovered completely, or was it consistent with other things in her
life?

"... can't focus my eyes a lot of the time"--do you have any more
description of that?
/ :-/

HI

Maybe no real difference for the homeopath/naturopath who will prescribe detox and organ support anyway.

I would think that "withdrawal symptoms" aren't quite the same as "side-effects". (though, then again, maybe there's no proper definition of "side effects")

Our repertories recognize the possible differences through the rubrics "to reduce craving" for tobacco, alcohol etc. as opposed to "desire" or "agg" or "amel"

I view typical side effects as direct damage, poisoning or interference to the organs, etc thus the body creates symptoms to throw off the drug or deal with the damage

I would say that in withdrawal symtoms the body has actually replaced certain natural chemical(s) for the drug. (as in opium, alcohol, etc) That withdrawal sx is the painful process of withdrawal is the body "discovering" the supposedly vital chemical (the drug, imitating a vital chemical) is no longer available -thus creating a shortage in a certain chemistry process- and that the old natural chemical that was suppressed has yet to kick into action again.

Sort-a vaguely sounds like the credit banking industry crisis, doesn't it??? .....:-}
and the bailout sounds like morphine trying to replace opium rather that arriving at a real cure.
hmmmmmmmmm

In answer to Shannon's questions I received the following today:-

It therefore looks to me as if the fear of crowded places, panic attacks are an increase of her former condition and the vertigo, head pressure (like a tyre being blown up) and the tinnitus may have been caused by the Seroxat.
All the best
