Vitamin C (sodium ascorbate form) articles & info summarized

Post by Sheri Nakken »

Sodium ascorbate is buffered version of very acidic ascorbic acid
Sodium ascorbate is what all the research was done with - Sodium ascorbate, IV

it isn't sodium chloride - at differs from common table salt in that it is not combined with chloride, the "salt" most often associated with High blood pressure.

it is sodium ascorbate

"sodium ascorbate contains only 10% sodium. "

Not true.

Because something is itself acidic does NOT mean it makes you more
acidic.
What counts is the pH of the end products that arrive at the kidneys
- not of the starting products.

For example apples have an acidic pH of 3.0 but after you eat them
they actually increase body alkalinity.

The effect of ascorbic acid depends entirely on its breakdown end
products - which in turn is dependent on what it is detoxing in the
body. Eating a lot at a time WILL feel like eating a lot of apples or
a vinegary food as that's the starting pH of ascorbic acid - and that
is why large doses are better by IV.

Once absorbed, Ascorbic acid is reversibly oxidised to
dehydroascorbic acid in the body. This reaction removes a hydrogen
from the enediol group of ascorbic acid (and removal of H reduces
acidity) - however the persoon WILL excrete unchanged ascorbic acid
that is taken in excess of need. Otherwise end products are formed
during detox reactions, and those determine pH change. Unchanged
excreted ascorbic acid does nothing to the body's pH of course.

Namaste,
Irene

This is your opinion.
Where's the extensive research to back it up such as the sodium ascorbate research

Yikes - glad I'm not there.
Where is their extensive research showing high doses of ascorbic acid
can be given IV and cures from the same?
