Tanya,
Some years ago I treated my Lab for an SCI with developing bowel and bladder paralysis, which is what seems to be happening to your cat. Following Dr. Ramakrishnan's protocol, I gave him Causticum 200c in hourly doses (up to six doses a day). I started in the evening and managed to get in 4-5 doses before I had to go to bed. In the middle of the night, I could hear him scratching at his bedding, and then I knew he'd be all right. The next day I gave him a few more doses of Caust. He urinated and defecated that morning and recovered uneventfully.
He'd been unable to poop or pee for 48 hours when I started treatment.
Peace,
Dale

it is mainly the stool that is the problem. i realized yesterday that she might
have swollen anal sacs which make it hard to pass the stool. that coupled with
the inability to 'push' from muscles that have been injured during a seizure or the
pain on her lower spine from the pressure of trying to push is where the problem
lies.
causticum might be a good rx to try tomorrow.

Hello Tanya,
I'd be looking at Alumina.
Regards,
Chris.

i just realized that i have another condition with this poor cat. i think she
has developed myiasis or fly strike in her rectum. i have finally gotten
some definition online for this condition and it is very disturbing for the
rapidity of its development.
for those who don't know, it involves fly eggs laid around the anus, or any
open wound with the eggs developing in the warm moist tissues. they
can work their way up the rectum and do damage to the internal tissue.
i am assuming that this occurred because the cat has been relatively
immobile for several days now and has not been able to clean herself
after urination. i have tried to clean her and the area she lies on but
have not been able to eliminate the flies from getting into the house.
she has these tiny wormlike maggots infesting her rectum and can
find no remedy for this. does anyone know of how to handle this problem?

Tanya I know this is only one tiny little aspect of a complex case....
Magnesium is usually in short supply in seizure cases - almost by
defintion - and lack of magnesium also causes constipation.
Magnesium and Vit B6 go together as nerve nutrients each helping to
absorb the other - May be a considerastion?

Namaste,
Irnee

Maybe castor oil would smother them? And I think it is non-irritating
enough to use on such sensitive tissue--anyone know? Or maybe any
oil, for that matter?
