Hi Teresa,

Well:-)

On the other hand, all through history meat, fish was a luxury for
many if not most people. If at all, they had it on Sundays. The same
goes for eggs, milk, cheese. Theirs staple foods were starchy - bread,
rice, corn, potaatoes..... Many of them also lived long healthy lives

It all depended on what parts of the world they lived.

To me the one big difference is that their starches were not refined
and their foods organically grown and mostly free from ....icides.
That to me seems to be the common denominator.

Irene,
How do you use rice bran, and how much (e.g. daily) is a recommended
amount?

Has anyone ever heard of a type one diabetus being cured...the body starts
producing insulin again? Through homeopathy? My roommate tells me that she was
told that type l is caused by a virus...apparently one that skips generations.

Irene,

Thanks again for additional info. Maybe I'm not making myself clear
and there's a-lot of concepts flying around here that others may
misunderstand when treating diabetics. Miasmatic induced diabetes
vs. dietary induced diabetes.

I started the Atkins Diet 30 years ago when I was 15. I lost 60
lbs. Eventually I was treated by Dr. Atkins, his glucose tolerance
testing showed reactive hypoglycemia which today we now know is a
precursor to diabetes. Today, allopathy now uses the term prediabetes
to enforce the concept that you are heading that way. This means
blood glucose irregularities are present. Thus, the inherited miasm
that causes my diabetes began when I was young, probably by age 5
when I started to gain weight, *possibly* activated by vaccination.
I have lived in and out of ketosis for the last 30 years. By staying
in ketosis and eating no/low carbs, I could keep weight down and
control blood glucose, blood pressure, blood lipids, etc.. All was
manageable until my early 40's when I became full blown diabetic.
That was totally expected as that is the age when this miasm takes
one into diabetes under "normal" condtions. If I wasn't Atkins
dieting, I would have become diabetic much earlier, as what is
happening in the USA epidemically with more younger people becoming
type 2 diabetic.

".....and in your shoes I'd be cutting out the carbs that cause it.
the

Irene, it's not my diet that is damaging my system, it is my MIASM
that is damaging my system. There's not much to deny. I can eat NO
carbs and still have high blood glucose. There are not many carbs to cut out when you don't
eat any! While anti-inflammation is now the new "in" topic,
inflammation didn't cause these problems at age 5, nor at age 15
being in ketosis. Inflammation can cause problems way later on in
life many years after. I've been using enteric coated aspirin, 81mg
and 325mg because it is known to reduce inflammation besides being
allopathically recommended to reduce heart attack risks. I've
noticed it can also help lower blood glucose.

You are not insulin resistant, I am. While insulin may be indicated
for me, if I take it I will gain weight because I already have high
insulin levels when eating carbs. By Atkins' dieting, I'm saving my
pancreas by drastically reducing insulin production.

the

Here's a case for DON'T BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU READ, especially
medical food research. This is not true for older artificial sweeteners!
First, they don't LOWER blood glucose, they don't cause glucose increases. I
have been using saccharin and cyclamates (Sugar Twin from Canada) for
30 years. When I'm in ketosis and use these sweeteners, they DO NOT
cause insulin release. If they did, I would become tired and sleepy,
have rapid pulse, increased hunger and higher blood pressure plus
have the allergic reactions to insulin that I feel when in ketosis
and eat too many carbs that actually do cause an insulin release.
Now, as diabetic, they still don't cause hunger, don't raise blood glucose.

The newer ones, aspartame/NutraSweet, an MSG-like brain excitotoxin
causes muscle fatigue and sucralose/Splenda adverely affects my
liver. These newer ones are problematic for many other reasons, in
sensitive individuals, whether they cause diabetes or not. Why use
them? Try making no-carb cheesecake and ice cream without them! You
could use a natural sugar alcohol, like xylitol, maltitol or
erythritol but some of these do cause glucose to rise and cause the
taste/insulin release you mentioned, although they claim otherwise.
You can use blue agave or brown rice syrup but while
blue agave syrup is sold as LOW glycemic, it causes HIGH blood
glucose increases upon testing. Sometimes I want the taste and feel
of a Diet Coke. Only diet soda from a fountain outlet uses
saccharin. Cans/bottles use aspartame/sucralose.

spices,
LOW
first.

Irene, this is ABSOLUTELY false! Acai is for everyone. Acai is LOW carb and HIGHER in ORAC than all the foods you listed COMBINED along with a favorable fatty acid profile. Total ORAC intake, while healthy, makes no difference for blood sugar control. You must be thinking of sweetened Acai in blended juices. I'm using Sambazon Organic freeze dried acai powder from Brazil. Once 3 gram serving scoop has 1 gram of carb which is not listed as sugar - http://www.sambazon.com/nutrition/powerScoop.jpg. (click on labels to enlarge). They also sell frozen pulp in blocks, one is unsweetened with guarana and still low carb, only 7 grams - http://www.sambazon.com/nutrition/frozenPure.jpg , the other is sweetened with organic evaporated cane juice. It sounds like you're in ketosis if you're eating such low carb amounts. Have you tested your urine to see?
Again, the "diet" you say to follow, good for a new diabetic who
never followed a low carb one, means more carbs for me. How more "VERY strict" can I be in ketosis?

I've been treated homeopathically by many homeopaths, including Andre Saine and
now Dr. Ramakrishnan for over 10 years. Still, diabetes emerged.
I've been diet "strict" for 30 years, that's not helping me much now.

I've found by experimenting, that keeping the liver clean and
detoxing regularly postively affects blood glucose levels. I'm in
the middle of a detox, so not Atkins dieting. I drank a pint of
tangerine juice and ate organic black grapes and black cherries. My
blood glucose stayed around 140. How can that be after eating so
many fructose carbs? But this is only during a detox. I can keep
eating hummus, scallions and almonds and that will keep blood glucose
low, but it gets very boring. Hypoglycemia was identified as a liver related problem many years ago by alternative healers. Hypoglycemia precurses diabetes. It's only logical that focusing on the liver should help many diabetics control, not cure it.

What I am prepared to do is gastric bypass surgery within the next 2
years if I can not be further helped by homeopathy because that is
shown to immediately stop diabetes before any weight loss even
occurs. I've already lost the 50 lbs that I gained during the
diabetes emergence stage, mainly from the Byetta drug, but they now
do the surgery just to reverse diabetes.

Susan

carol,
i never heard of this before. however, if what you write is true, then
doesn't it suggest a miasmatic condition and we do know that miasms
can be cured with homeopathy. perhaps it will be shown through
epigenetics to be a remnant of previous generational 'trauma' to the
vital force.

Except that canola is 5% transfat - and also has a highly
inflammatory load of omega-6.

The transfat gets into the canola during manufacture - so need not be
on the label in USA - as it is not "added intentionally". It is an
accident of processing.
There was some hullabaloo in Europe about it - dunno if they "won"
and got the transfat on the label as they hoped.

You can eat it as is, as a cereal, but I usually use it in sauces and
gravies and soups, and so forth.
It's not harsh like some brans, but does have a somewhat grainy taste.

Only maybe recent history - humans all started out eating meat -
agriculture was a relatively recent addition in man's "development"
on the planet.

Luxuries are in the eye of the beholder:-)
My gran who died in about 1958, was one of thirteen siblings - they
had what was called "Benoni small farms" which could be called Benoni
poor farms:-) But they ate meat, eggs and fruit mainly. Average age
for the 13 of them at death was 105. The youngest death was age 98.
To them, water was a luxury - had to be hand carried in buckets - and
transport was a luxury - ox wagon to take kids to school - but meat
was basic.

The idea of grain as a staple was introduced by the big grain
companies - not willingly by regular folk. Even the poor tribes in
Africa always farmed cattle, lived in mud-wall houses with grass-
thatch roofs and walked barefoot. Grain came a lot later, a bad idea
for all but grain companies IMO.

I dunno about a type of diabetes - but I am making insulin again and
so are three cats I had as clients.
I used diet for me and homeopathy for the cats.

It doesn't matter what causes your diabetes - in that you can still
control the glucose levels with diet - but not with the approaches
you insist on taking such as using artificial sweeteners and calling
Aacai low carb. (It is actually 33% carb!)
You are not hearing anything I suggest:-)
You are also making (invalid) assumptions about "your" diabetes as
opposed to mine.
YOUR dietary choices are making you more and more insulin resistant
- (as I used to be).
You are using a miasm as the excuse to use non-ideal eating - the
miasm is there - but not relevant to dietary control - it is only
relevant for permanent removal of the *tendency* to diabetes.

Your choice to eat as you do - but it makes further discussion
between us rather futile does it not?

I gave you my suggestions - you have rejected them - it's your
prerogative.
I wish you well.
