child who doesn't want to grow up

Post by Rochelle »

I have been treating this 10 yr old child for a few months for Molluscum which kept going to cellulitis (Thuja 200 - one dose) and today I discovered that she doesn't want to grow up when Mum said she always wears a vest and I joked and asked her if she will still be wearing one when she wears a bra and mum told me not to even go there!! I can't get it out of her what the problem is. However I did discover she doesn't think she is lovely but fat and puffy. Mum wonders if her own underconfidence has rubbed off on her.
Yes she is a overweight (not obese) - the whole family is vegetarian but she doesn't eat veg or fruit or eggs!! Desires sugar, avers onions. I suggested more exercise- she likes swimming and gymnastics . I don't believe in suggesting diets to vulnerable kids.
Can anyone think of any other remedies other than Sac off where people want to remain a child? I have given her another does of Thuja 200 as mum thinks her confidence increased after the first dose. She has had no cellulitis or cystitis which she was prone to since the original dose of Thuja.
Thanks

Hi Rochelle,
Why would you want to change the remedy when you got cellular changes? Are you seeing anything else?
I had a patient who wrote when she was about 15 and wearing nothing but black that she wanted to be eight. She was gay and in the closet at the time. So there were big identity issues. Sharp contrast from her peers. Thuja did a lot for her. But you have to give it time. I don't know your time frame. Two months does not seem like very long. Also, I would wait for a symptom picture change. Later this identity issue persisted and Anacardium did a lot. But again, she is basically healthy so the change was slow.
I would think keeping the mom's attention while you work slowly is more of an issue.
Best,
Ellen

Dear Ellen,
I don't necessarily wish to change the remedy but was just enquiring for the future in case the repeat of Thuja doesn't do anything else what remedies people know of for not wishing to grow up as the only one I know is Sac Off and other than the fact this child desires sugar nothing else suits!! There must be other remedies for me to research although I would go up on the Thuja first.

because Calc tries to keep things for itself.
Calc tries to be a child for a long long time.
Cals has fear for criticism so it is silent, does say anything.
So Calc becomes (a little bit) fat and gets obstipation (also that keeping for itself)...
Calc likes sweets in each form (instead of love)

Is not the desire for onion a little strange?

Also is the desire for sugar, for sugar or for sweets?

Apart from that how much importance do we give to body image issues
around puberty?

"Does not want to grow up" - is that what she said or what you
thought would summarize the case?

"Mother's underconfidence rubbing off on child"- could happen. What
remedy would you give to the mother and is it the same thing that
the child would need?

Gaby's suggestion of Calc looks good- but for now Thuja seems to be
acting and so perhaps continue with it in different potencies
