Carbonated water? Wouldn't that have its own chemicals that might interfere
with the remedies?

Re: 4th and 5th edition
Hi Cee,
Well, you caught me out. Actually, I do not really know whether
carbonated water is the right translation.
The Paris casebooks are in French, and Hahnemann wrote something like
"water with coal" (avec charbon). Sometimes prescribed it in plain
water, sometimes in water with alcoohol. The coal and the alcohol were
probably added for preservation purposes.

So definitely know what's true:
2 and 2 is 22 -
and 2 times 2 is 2:-)

Hi Shannon,
I don't know what "charbon" means.
The editor translated it into German as "Kohle" which means "coal"

Re: 4th and 5th edition
Charcoal has immense adsorbtion properties as we now from filters, etc,....It was used in H's time to purify water, simply by putting a piece of it in the jar of water.
Charcoal also burns like mineral coal and is used for the same purpose, see barbecues.....
So no big mystery here, simple technology of that time for water purification, still valid today, and the use of a generic name.

Re: 4th and 5th edition
So rather than "carbonated water" the phrase should be "charcoal water"
or "charcoal-treated water"--with the contemporary equivalent being
filtered or spring water??
