kennel cough

can anyone help with this?
12 year old mongrel, recent separation trauma leading to anxious,
stressed behaviour. Much more settled now he is in a home, if a bit
clingy.
He is stiff and a bit arthritic generally.
Frequent urination - don't know if this is part of current problem or
chronic 'old man's bladder'.
loosish, small frequent stools - again don't know if this is
temporary result of recent stress, chronic, or concomitant of main
problem.

Has kennel cough, which is a loose cough (>profuse frothy
expectoration,like soap suds, generally a bit off colour and sorry
for himself). Increased thirst and reduced appetite. Kennel cough is
generally regarded in rescue kennels as highly infections and akin to
a cold in that normally it passes without too much problem, although
i have known it turn into pneumonia on one occasion). Can't see it in
Schroyens' list of concepts, incidentally.

I have always thought drosera a good match for common symptom but
wonder if anyone has any better ideas.

Here is a list of the most common remedies used for Kennel Cough:

Drosera 30C: Very good for the typical dry hacking cough. Probably the primary remedy.

Rumex Crispus 30C: THE remedy for that nagging, tickly cough which won't settle down....especially occuring at night time and wakes your pet and everyone else up.

Aconite 6C: A very early remedy to give when the first signs appear. Usually good when the pet seems well and within hours becomes ill...very quickly. If given in time, it can abort the whole infection. Excellent for calming the pet.

Spongia Tosta 6C: Drier, more hoarse, barking cough. Similar to the "trained seal" sound people get.

Phosphorus 30C: Dry cough with flecks of blood in it...this may be leading to pneumonia. Increase their Pet Immune and Horehound.

Bryonia 30C: Dry cough with obvious pain. Cough may have moved deeper into the lungs. Dog feels better if you hold its rib cage while it coughs as the intercostal muscles (between the ribs) are very tender from the coughing.

Thank you Tanya and Mary. Had actually just switched to rumex as drosera had not stopped deterioration (and neither had Sticta).
Your advice is much appreciated.

Theresa, re the Kennel Cough case:

I think you need a homeopathy consult to find the best simillimum for
the dog, and I'd also use Bordetella broncbhiseptica 200C along with
that, plus alpha-lipoic acid (to counter the specific lung surface
damage caused by the organism) and an anti-inflamamtgory diet.

Rumex seems to have helped this dog turn the corner. Still left with cough but appetite and energy better and much less mucus and vomiting. Have made a nosode from the sputum now ( a bit late in the day) and will see if it helps resolve the condition and, another time, be used prophylactically or at first signs.
