I stumbled upon the following rubric:
MERCURIAL, AFFECTIONS OF GUMS (8) , carb-v[2], chin[1], hep[2], hydr
[1], merc[2], nit-ac[2], phyt[1], staph[1]
What are mercurial affections? How should we know an affection is
mercurial? Do those affections have recognition marks to show they are
mercurial?
Best regards
Maly

mercurial affections?
i found this link to an older book that talks a bit about this. look on page 201 and then go backwards
for more information.
http://books.google.com/books?id=2ejvke ... #PPA199,M1
there is also a manual of therapy from 1914 that has an article on gum disease and briefly lists mercury as
one cause.
the condition can be inflamed gums, pus, gums spongy, etc.
some interesting stuff to explore. the rubric is probably an older one that harks back
to the late 19, early 20c medical/dental terminology

Re: mercurial affections?
Thank you Tanya!
So, my conclusion is that nowadays such a rubric is not to be used unless mercury poisoning is a clear causation in the case.

Re: mercurial affections?
if mercury was involved, i would agree.
but i also question whether this rubric would apply
to conditions from other causes that have the mercury sx?
what do others think?
