APIS and the case of exploding genitals
APIS and the case of exploding genitals
Ah Dave, it has been invigorating to read your caustic comments of late. It
has reminded me that you challenged my comments about the value of observing
honey bees in nature as to a surefire way of understanding the remedy
application in homeopathy. You said it had about 1% application. This has
prompted me to go further and qualify my assertion. These notes therefore
come not only as from a homeopath but as a bee-keeper also.
A honeybee colony is divided up as follows:-
QUEEN BEE - is there anything more JEALOUS in nature than the queen bee
(asks Clarke). There is only ever one queen bee in a colony/hive. She will
not tolerate another and if the rest of the hive have started nurturing
another queen bee they will attack each other to the death.
The queen is surrounded by thousands of bees - CANNOT BEAR TO BE LEFT ALONE.
All the other bees attend to her every need - HARD TO PLEASE. They are
totally dependent on the queen, if she dies the whole colony dies -
PREMONITION OF DEATH. Once a queen has mated she spends the rest of her life
laying eggs, almost non stop. STRONG AFFINITY WITH UTERUS AND OVARIES. MANIA
FROM SEXUAL IRRITATION. The queen will only leave a hive/colony twice - once
to mate and once to swarm - > COLD WATER. Believe me I know!!
DRONES (male):- oh the poor drones. They do virtually nothing around the
hive, neither do they go foraging - TORPOR, APATHY. Their only purpose is
for one of them to mate with the queen. Other than that, come Autumn they
literally get kicked out of the hive/colony so as to save food stores for
the rest of the bees. So for all the hundreds of drones only one gets to
mate with the new queen who emerges from the hive just once to mate with
which ever lucky???? drone is around. Unfortunately for the drone as soon as
he has mated with her his genitals then explode and he falls to the ground -
dead - SUDDEN SHRILL AND PIERCING SCREAMS.
I actually had a case of a 25 year old man who had eczema around the genital
area - he described the itching burning at its worse "as if his testicles
were going to explode." MALE, SEXUAL DESIRE DECREASED, PAINS AND SWELLINGS
OF TESTES, HIGHLY INFLAMED.
The hive never sleeps, bees do not sleep - GREAT DESIRE TO SLEEP, EXTREME
SLEEPINESS, DREAMS OF FLYING THROUGH THE AIR. They never stop moving -
GIDDINESS, FIDGETY, LISTLESS, TWITCHING, << lying down.
The general colour of a colony is yellow to brown although honey can be
anything from white to dark brown. WAXY YELLOW APPEARANCE, STOOLS YELLOW,
DIARHHOEA = WHITE, YELLOWISH GREEN, ORANGE. When bees get dysentery you
really know about it if you've got washing hanging on the line!
Everything about a hive is sticky, wax and propolis - DISCHARGES STICKY.
Bees do need some moisture but most of it is processed through the honey
making naturally, you will rarely see a bee drinking - THIRSTLESS.
I could go on but I can hear the drones buzzing!
So in my opinion it is extremely worthy to look towards the natural
substance, the natural state of our remedies in order to gain a better
understanding of them and to know how and why the remedies produced the
symptoms/rubrics during the provings.
I reckon its Hartley 2 and Lucas 8
Best wishes, Joy Lucas.

Oh Joy,
this had me laughing ALL the way through.
Not only because you handle Dave's caustic 'wit' in such a humorous,
gracious and lovely way -- but I appreciated reading about the Bees and how
much similarity there is between them and Apis! Thoroughly interesting.
Can you share more please?
Warmest regards,
Lisa Annan

Dear Joy
Although what you describe can be used as an aid to remembering facets of
APIS, despite the fact that some ideas come through to the remedy, the
concept of signatures has little validity in homoeopathy.

Soroush

Re: APIS and the case of exploding genitals
With regard to Joy's beekeeping observations & the remedy Apis.. there are
no doubt some similarities, but there's a definite problem in confusing DOS
(doctrine of signatures) type of observations with Materia Medica.
Even in the event that one beekeeper's personal insights seemed to h/ir to
be consistent with h/ir understanding of remedy Apis, these personal ad hoc
insights are not suitable for general inclusion into materia medica.
Joy communicates her personal understanding well, and *IF* her illustrative
anectdotes were related to MM on a point by point basis, I'd think her bee
stories would be great mnemonic MM study aids, sort of like Margaret Tyler's
"Drug Pictures."
This is why I ask for SOURCES when someone begins expounding on MM.. while
I might choose to trust Joy's knowledge of beekeeping... and might even
decide to accept some of her observations as provisionally related to Apis
(pending confirmation) .. there are other listees (I won't name names)
whose similarly creative/imaginative personal "additions" are patently
ridiculous.

Re: APIS and the case of exploding genitals
Yes, this is more information of similar quality... while NO DOUBT this sort
of pondering/musing is part of the "alchemical" development of the
individual.. and also, no doubt that there are similarities between
"meditative proving" and materia medica, there is also NO DOUBT that this
information has no place in our Materia Medica, until/unless fully
corroborated either as proving symptoms or as specifically delineated
clinical symptoms.
It might be interesting for those of you who are drawn to such fanciful
"data" to do some comparative extractions.. might even prove to be have some
practical value.. but it is necessary to know the sources of your materia
medica information... for instance, who thinks it would be appropriate to
base h/ir Rx on an individual's uncorroborated "meditative proving?"

Re: APIS and the case of exploding genitals
EVERYTHING I wrote about Apis IS corroborated in almost every MM I have ever
read - not ponderative or musing - fully supported by Clarke, Phatak,
Boericke, Sankaran, Vithoulkas, etc + my own cases (and others of
colleagues. What more do you need? Regards Joy.

Re: APIS and the case of exploding genitals
Dear Joy,
I must agree with Soroush. I think signatures are useful mnemonic devices.
But to assume the curative effects of a medicine can be ascertained by
studying the physical behaviors and properties of a substance deviates far
from the scientific principles of homeopathy and was despised by Hahnemann
himself.
