Repertories are useless without indexation of age and sex..Dr. Mumtaz Ali Claims
I could hardly disagree more strongly!
You must not have had very broad experience to even think of this idea:-)
There ARE rubrics to do with sexual organs and function, and that is all
we need.
There is no such thing as a remedy or rubric which is only relevant to a
specific age, even those that are known for example to be useful in
senility. Nor is there any remedy or rubric that applies to a specific
gender only.
Take this case for example:
Kitten presents with FIP, and is acting like an old man when it is a
kitten. No memory, slow awkward stiff movements, etc etc ... The other
symptoms also point to Baryta carb which indeed cures.
There is no way that age determines symptoms and therefore you can NOT
separate a repertory by age!
There is absolutely no evidence for your idea anywhere.
Nor does gender determine symptoms or characteristics, much less a remedy
(other than those rubrics already catered for in the male/female section
of the repertory).
ALL other symptoms can occur in either gender - so there is NO reason to
categorize a repertory by gender either.
It would HUGE mistake to do that, as you would be excluding a large
selection of appropriate and potential simillimum options.
I challenge you to find even one example of evidence for your theory!
>
There are no age and sex specific rubrics to present!
Apart from the Male/female section - a client of any age and any sex can
have any symptom:-)
What makes you think otherwise?
And so what if a repertory has lots of symptoms - you only look up the ONE
you want at the time. In most cases you can be completely lazy, type the
rubric, (as in Radar you just type ? followed by the rubric) ) and it will
come up for you with all the remedies etc. It is easier than looking up a
name in a phone book:-)
>
Such as?
There's no such division.
This remoinds me of when I first started as a vetgerinary homeopath. I
took the repertory and highlighted all the rubrics I thought animals could
potentially have - and left out lots of them.
What a HUGE mistake that was - same mistake you are making here.
ALL the rubrics do apply. Sooner or later, there is a case to use a rubric
you never imagined was even possible for thst category of client.
So I learned this way that ALL the rubrics in the biggest repertory need
to stay there for my animal work. No exceptions:-)
Also for people work. No exceptions:-)
In any case your thinking is with respect back to front:
When you take a case you look at the CLIENT symptoms and list them - not
the repertory symptoms.
Once you have the client symptoms, it is like looking in a dictionary or
phone book - and so what if there are other names/rubrics there that are
not the ones your client has?
You ONLY look up the ones your client has.
It's not like you look in the repertory to see if your client's situation
is there - that would be backwards and incorrect. Doing that, you can make
a case for half the remedies in the repertory for just about any case. If
you are doing that - working backwards - then you will to change your
approach - or you will not have repertorizing success:-)
Perhaps that is your problem. (Your desire to change the repertory
suggests you are working backwards).
If you are working forwards and are a good homeopath, then the more
rubrics there are in the repertory, the better you will like it - as your
client's symptoms - especially the unusual ones that are so important like
a kitten acting like an old man for example - or a man acting like a woman
for example - are more likely to be found in a rubric:-)
Actually they would be a lot less useful if you introduced such a
causeless separation and elimination of rubrics. I would certainly not
want such a damaged repertory. I need ALL the rubrics for ALL my cases. I
learned that the hard way:-)
>
WHY would you read those rubrics?
When you look up your name in the phone book, do you look under R for RIAZ
- or do you look first under A, then under B, then under C, etc and then
complain to the phone company that they should remove all people with
names not starting with R?
This is the equivalent of what you are asking the repertories to do:-)
If you know your homeopathy (and I do not know if you are a student or a
homeopath) - you KNOW that you ONLY look up the rubrics your infant client
actually has. You do not look in the repertory first - and "see if you
spot things that apply". That is not homeopathy and will never get you a
matching remedy. You first need to list WHAT to look up. Just as you first
know what name you will look up in the phone book.
