If anybody at all knows anything about this conference beyond the scant details of time and venue posted on the quoted site, would they kindly post them? Private messages to the conference organisers don't seem to be getting through.

Many thanks --

John

Hello John,

here is the latest from Jayney Goddard (in the UK). If this does not work for you, please
email me off list and I will forward what I have got. This is a significant event taking place
in the UK, arranged at short notice (so very commendable), and everone is being
encouraged to support it. BW, Grace

Scientific Research in Homeopathy Conference

Just a quick note to bring you up to date with developments in the
Complementary Medical Association
"Scientific Research in Homeopathy" Conference.

As you will be aware, there have been more attacks on homeopathy in the
media this weekend - it now seems that anyone selling homeopathic remedies
(including the big chemist's chains) is fair game. Looking on the bright
side though, the negativity was somewhat ameliorated by a very even-handed 3
page article in the Sunday Express "S" Magazine by Anna Magee who contacted
me after The Wright Stuff show in order to get a more balanced overview.

However, what all of this means in totality is that homeopathy is still
under enormous threat and it is vital that homeopaths (and other CAM
practitioners) have the necessary information at their fingertips in order
to counteract these attacks - by being able to confidently discuss the
genuine wealth of scientific research that exists in the field of
homeopathy.

This is why the "Scientific Research in Homeopathy" Conference has been set
up. It is taking place on the 18th June and coincides with Homeopathy
Awareness Week. The Conference features excellent speakers all of whom are
internationally respected experts in their field. This Conference is a
non-profit event.

This is just a quick email to remind you about the event - and the huge
importance of making sure that you are fully up to date with research
information. If you have already booked - congratulations! This conference
is going to make a vast contribution to your knowledge and understanding of
the very robust scientific evidence that underpins homeopathy.

If you have not yet booked, please do so . . .We have to strive to protect
homeopathy NOW! These attacks are just the tip of the iceberg. We need to
unite in order to overcome these threats and by working together with a
better understanding of the positive evidence for homeopathy, we can do
this.

All the details for the conference are
HERE
(some email systems don't enable links so copy and paste this into your
browser if this is the case:
http://homeopathyresearch.eventbrite.com) If you have any problems at all
with the booking system - or indeed if you prefer to speak to a real human
being - you can call us on 0845 129 8434 (Lo Call rate - UK).

Please Note: As mentioned above, event is being run by homeopaths, for
homeopaths (and other CAM practitioners). It is a non-profit event and we
do make a charge to cover costs. If you are speedy, you'll be able to take
advantage of our Early Bird Ticket reduction - just click on the link above
and you'll see all the details for this.

Also, please do pass this information on to your friends and colleagues -
this event is of great importance and relevance to everyone involved in
complementary medicine.

All the very best,

Jayney Goddard

Dear Grace,

Many thanks. The first link still points at a picture of a flower, and the second points to the same uninformative page, which now contains the assurance that

"I will be putting a web page up with the time-table and full speaker line-up in due course, but wanted to get this invitation out to you right away as the date is looming! Please note that only 100 tickets are available and I have had enormous numbers of emails from people wanting to come to this event - so please do book right away and forward this invitation to your friends and colleagues".

I don't know anybody who'll be rushing in to pay 46 pounds each on the strength of that. I'm sure anyone thinking of attending would like some actual detail before paying the money. Doubtless, though, once the list of amazing speakers is published, Janey will get her hundred conference-goers. Perhaps she could begin advertising it once it's organised.

Cheers --

John

John,

The conference is well organised, and there is am impressive line-up of speakers.

I can understand the frustration, since people are not getting the required information.
But the information is out there in the public domain, at least in the UK.

Please email me off-list and I will forward the latest from Jayney Goddard received just
today. I think that she did not realise that including a flower in the main body of the
announcements would create problems for e.groups.
It must be pointed out as well that this conference has been organised very recently, as a
follow-up of Jayney's appearance on the TV Chanel 5 "The Wright Stuff) in the UK, where
Jayney came across as much more credible than her opponent (Simon Singh, who has
sided with Edzard Ernst in speaking against Homeopathy in the UK).

For people outside the UK, this must be difficult to follow, (apologies). Jayney Goddard
and others in the UK supported the idea of this conference to coincide with Homeopathy
Awareness Week in the UK. There are other initiatives underfoot in the UK too, since
recently homeopathy is relentlessly under attack, and people on this side of the pond are
gathering ideas on how to respond effectively.

If anyone interested, just google Edzard Ernst and you will see what I mean.

Best wishes, Grace
