Ear wax / lost hearing

Post by Shannon Nelson »

Has anyone here used a remedy to reverse situation where ears are
plugged (to point of loss of most of the hearing) by earwax?

Would this be a matter of "hardened" (and rubrics pertaining to that)
or "overproduction" (and ditto)?

I assume the chronic remedy would be to prevent the situation
recurring, but not sure what to expect from a plug that's already
there? (This came up on another list, and suggestions have been given
re using various types of oil to soften and drain the plug, and also
the suggestion that just go to the doctor's office to have it flushed
or extracted.)

Thanks,
Shannon

If you have specific case(s) in mind, would you mind saying more? I'm
curious what potency and what repetition, and how long it took for the
ears to clear? (Also, whether there were other signs of the remedy
besides the lost hearing and earwax?)
Thank you!
Shannon

Hi Shannon,

Yes, I tried to post to that list a couple of days ago but the post
bounced and I wasn't sure whether I was still on moderation there so I
waited rather than repeating it. And part of my post was about ear
candles and she just started talking about them so that felt really odd
and by the way the earwax doesn't go up and down in the candle - it's
quite fine to burn them down low and to do them repeatedly.

I had a case where on LM2 daily of Lachesis there was a sort of
expulsion of hard plugs of earwax as an "oh, by the way this strange
thing happened with my ears just before I was due to have my regular
syringing done"

There are quite a few rubrics around earwax and loss of hearing. Given
the concomitant anxiety and fear of doctors, maybe Lachesis or Phos
could be a good suggestion.

But the other thing is that she needs someone to actually look in the
ears to see if there is wax there and it's not from another cause - just
looking through the rubrics under deafness has things like middle ear
catarrh, following suppressed discharge, nervous exhaustion,
cerebral....

Hi, Shannon.

Yes, once the earwax is there, occluding hearing, it's a passive product,
not a dynamic process -- and it's a non-invasive "surgical" (manually
removing it) procedure that's not complicated. So if it's truly excessive,
the homeopathic treatment would be designed to slow down the formation of
excess ear wax.

hi Shannon,
I only have one case. The patient came because of multiple complaints. Amongst them a dizziness which corresponded to conium. He got- I think thrice- a C200. After multiple months he was generally better and that he used to produce to much cerumen and this had become significantly better

Hi Shannon,

At the risk of being criticised for using combination remedies, yes I have done this several
times, with children using ear mucous dissolver, a combination of remedies that can be
obtained from New Vistas in Ireland. The results were astounding, wax came out, saving
the children from having gromets. I also advised the use of mullein oil to soften the wax
though. And of course I gave the constitutional to stop overproduction. Best wishes,
Grace

I always give Mullein(Verbascum) oil to use daily in the ear. I tell patients to warm a teaspoon in a kettle of hot water and then put a few drops of oil on and pour into the ear.
I have had success with Puls as a constitutional and Kali Mur - both with children as a substitute for grommets - if this is the sort of thing you mean.

Hi!
Can u pls help and advise. My daughter 5 yrs old who has cnfmd enlarged adenoids ( X ray done in dec 2007) and recurrent colds every mth and snoring in the night for one year at least now.
We have found that she is complaining that she cannot hear properly and the doc checked and said she has to go for ear flushing due to lot of wax stuck(gave her olive ear drops for one week to put three times a day). Will this solve her problem? Is the little less hearing caused by the adenoids? Also the recurrent colds every mth is due to enlarged adenoids?
The allopath suggests her to take nasal spray with steroids( what are the side effects to specify) but it is a NONo for us . And said if it does not go we have to go for surgery !
Pls can u help for the solution.
Thks
Suzie

Hi Suzie,
Most likely good homeopathic "constitutional" care will solve all of
it--but it's not a do-it-yourself. Do you have access to a homeopath,
or would you like help finding one?
Best wishes,
Shannon
