I'm drawing a blank and I was hoping someone here could give me some help.
I spoke to the practitioner treating my daughter the other day. We went round and round (and round).
He needs me to describe my feelings (during the pregnancy). Perhaps I am just way out of touch.
But every time ATTEMPT to 'describe' my feelings he says I am describing more actions and thoughts NOT feelings.
Can someone please help me, I just don't get it. I'm scratching my head.
Is there a link to what a descriptions of 'feelings' should look like??
I tried to use what are feeling words 'excited, surprised, scared, nervous,...' but he said that was not telling him how I felt. I can tell you now that I FEEL dumb for not being able to figure this out.
any help would be appreciated

your practitioner is looking for something more
personal and specific; something that would
be more descriptive of you as opposed to the
millions of women who are excited, surprised, nervous,
etc. those descriptives dont' descibe in homeopathy.
perhaps you can ask people who you were around during
that period of time if they recall anything specific
about you.
for example, when i was pregnant i was afraid that i
would lose my daughter. a stupid md told me i wasn't
pregnant but had tumors. i was afraid throughout my
pregnancy that something would go wrong because of
these tumors. i had all kinds of thoughts and feelings
concerning this wrongful diagnosis. (btw, i had no
tumors--this woman decided she would abort me without
my knowledge/permission). i was also afraid of losing
my apartment and not having a place to live when the
baby was born. these are specific fears and worries.
i was also excited about different things such as
the ideas of what things i wanted to do for this baby, etc.
do you get the idea?

Re: describe your feelings
Hi Lara,
It sounds like his approach has undermined you rather than been helpful.
I'm just guessing but where he might be coming from is a way of thinking
that goes deeper than surface feelings to the sensations and energy
below them, but it doesn't sound like he was able to provide a space of
safety for you to explore that. It sounds like rather than opening up
any exploration he just kept telling you that you were wrong.
It can feel like going round and round in circles and be a bit tedious
unless the practitioner knows how to facilitate it well.
The sensations might be found if you explore, for example: When I felt
surprised it was as if......... and you allow yourself to explore the
ideas that surface even if they sound silly and insignificant. As you
explore these freely there maybe certain gestures that you do that are a
pattern and may be considered an expression of the energy. The
practitioner would usually be encouraging of whatever it is you bring
out rather than saying that you're talking about the wrong things.
Or another example: When I felt dumb for not being able to figure this
out it was as if...........I was getting lost in a maze and kept hitting
a brick wall.... and then maybe he would ask you to describe the feeling
of hitting a brick wall.... so you could say well it's a sudden impact
on something unyeilding that never lets me in and that's just like when
I was 10 and I wanted to ask a question and my teacher would always tell
me I was wrong to think like that and it would make me feel like a small
insignificant bug flying straight into a solid wall - 'splat' ....with a
hand gesture of a closed fist hitting the open palm of the other hand.
It's not an approach that suits every client and a good practitioner
needs to be able to suit his approach to the client, not make the client
suit him.
Who knows, maybe he would consider all those sorts of statments thoughts
and not feelings anyway.
Hope he finds a good remedy for your daughter after putting you through
that stress.
Gail.

Re: describe your feelings
hello, LW, i am sanket,
i got your problem . actually your doc. is asking about the experience in any situation like when you said excited , surprised and many more
because whatever you are telling your doc. it's just a emotions e.g. feeling scared, excited ......but if you can express your experience in that emotions will be more descriptive of your inner state, OK if you have any questions do ask frankly

Maybe the answer is to see if you can simply describe your inner
situation more deeply, or in greater detail, than what you usually find
a need for (after all, *you* know what you're feeling!). E.g. such as,
"I felt excited at the idea of (etc.), I had images of __________
(playing with the baby; walking with the baby; looking forward to
(whatever). [Were there any counter feelings, such as "am I really
ready for this", or "can we afford it",etc.? And mentioning other
things going on in your life at the same time that might have affected
you emotionally.
He said that 'excited, surprised, scared, nervous,...' were thoughts,
not feelings.
They sound like feelings to *me*, so perhaps he
just wanted you to go into more detail? And, as one of my teachers
used to put it, "Paint it up!"--be vivid!

Dear Lara,
Don't feel bad - it's not your fault; it is the practitioner who
is not functioning well here to facilitate the information gathering.
It's a skill the practitioner should have - along with the rest of
the homeopath skills they hopefully do have.
I work with animals (veterinary homeopathy) and they do not
answer what I want exactly either:-)
But I still get how they FEEL - How I do this is to ask the owner to
tell me what the animal *does* (actions) that lead the owner to
conclude what they tell me. So for example if the owner says "my cat
is depressed" I ask what the cat *did* to cause the owner to make
this conclusion of depression. The *events* involved are relevant as
they point to *reasons* for the behavior.
The owner may say something like "The cat hides under the bed every
morning for hours, instead of sitting in the window as it used to do"
or some such.
The *action* or *event* is something I can interpret and work
with as a homeopath, where the conclusion of "depression" is not very
useful to explain the situation in a way I can visualize and work with.
Mainly as I am looking at CAUSES of the feelings.
So maybe try to describe events and *why* they caused the
feelings you got. Also ask the practitioner to give an example of
what they are getting at.
If that doesn't work, I'd look for a practitioner with better
communication skills. (In my case I'd probably be doing that already.)
Namaste,
Irene
