Hi Luise,
It's in Clarke's MM under Zingiber. I think I also remember that it's one of the food desires of Lac-H.
Gail.

Zingiber officinale
Robin Murphy says it was proved by Franz and others.
Its remedial action encompasses: Albuminuria. Asthma. Breath offinseve. Deltoid rheumatism. Diarrhea. Dropsy. Dysentry. Flatulence. Food poisioning. Heartburn. Hepatitis. Indegistion. Menses cramps. Motion sickness. Morning sickness. Nausea. Nervous. Ozaena. Post nasal catarrh. Seminal emmisions. Spleen pains. Urine supressed. Water poisioning.

Re: proving of ginger
Hi Luise,
I made the comment from, I guess, my bias as someone who also loves
ginger--and other spices--and regularly eats gobs of it. I would not
expect a food substance to give rise to "proving", unless the person is
especially sensitive to it--which no doubt some people are.
You mention Lycopodium, and that's a great example of a substance
which is a powerful healer in potency and to a susceptible individual,
but apparently inert in its non-potentized form. I realize that ginger
is "medicinal" in a way that some other foods aren't, but I still
wouldn't expect it to cause "proving" (toxic reaction) unless really
aggressively (and probably unpleasantly) overused. As I said, I am
biased
...
We don't "prove" oxygen, water, rice, meat... Why ginger??

Re: proving of ginger
Hi Shannon,
Since a great percentage of our MM is from provings of such substances
as ginger (herbs, "innocuous" substances such as Lycopodium, spices)
as tinctures or powders etc. (i.e. not using potencies) I wondered
about the possible proving symptoms of ginger.
In did not know it was listed under zingiber - now I found it.
The provings are from tincture made from the dry roots and take up 10
pages in Allen's Encyclopedia of Pure Materia Medica, in Hering's
Guiding Symptoms they take up 16 pages, Boericke has one page of
them:-o
So, my problem being that I get nauseated when I drink too much water,
that I throughly dislike the taste of hot water (which may or may not
do the same - I haven't tried it), that I do not wish to drink coke or
soft drinks (latter for their sugar or aspartane ingredients) it there
seems to be for me just the choice between pest, cholera, typhoid...,
for, of course, coffee and black/green tea have an equal amount of
symptoms - as have the other herbs commonly used for tea:-(

Re: proving of ginger
Hi Shannoon,
This, of course, is a problem with all substances considered
non-poisonous - how come that provings still bring out symptoms - and
often a lot of them (as did ginger)? I also can think of no
explanation.
This is another problem (of all provings). We do not know how many of
the people who took part never came up with symptoms and therefore
just may not have been mentioned. Unfortunately there seems to
be no information in the provings on that issue.
You would be surprised to see how many of its provings were done,
bringing a lot of symptoms, with the non-potentized substance.
Again unfortunately there is, in the ginger provings, no information
on how much the provers took how frequently. For most of the provings
such information is given, however.
As I said, I am > biased
...
So am I - especially where coffee and tea are concerned:-)
Well, oxygen has been proved (Jeremy Sherr?) with quite virulent
symptoms afair (in the potencies, of course, as apparently all of the
modern provings). The others will probably follow one day (when the
sexy swans' and bald eagles' feathers have had their day:-).
Right now I have been spending some of my time and energy to study the
(old) provings. A general overview of them, especially as far as
symptoms from poisonings, provings of the crude substances (including
tinctures) and provings of the potencies are concerned.
I finally succeeded in getting together a small computer program to
sort them and put them together under various aspects.
Perhaps I'll write a "MM of Herbs, Spices and Innocuous Substances
Proven with the Crude Substances " and/or a "MM of Symptoms
of our Polycrests from Provings in the Potencies":-).
Since my source material is in Englilsh, I'd probably find no
publisher for it, though:-o
