[H] hives on coming in out of the cold
I just noticed that **Homeopathy Today** will be having an issue that revolves around homeopathic treatment of allergies—maybe next issue—and it has at least one article that mentions hives that arise repeatedly on coming in out of the cold. When I read the discussion a few days back, it reminded me of a daycare child I had back in the 80s who had hives (big scary ones) on coming in after playing in the snow. As I understand it, one noted homeopath is saying (in HT) that she has seen a rise in cases of hives in her patients over her career as a naturopath/homeopath. Is that the case with others—and is it mainly in the US and Europe or is it also true for homeopaths in, say, the Subcontinent? Teresa (Northern VA)_

Hi Teresa
Its funny this topic should arise. It appears that we are seeing a influx at the present moment of clients coming down with sore throats, fevers, and hives to full body rashes.
Is anyone else seeing this? We reside in NJ on the East Coast of the US

Hi Donna,
Yes, I'm seeing extreme sinus drainage, violent sneezing, and rashes and hives (without the sore throat or fever). This is both in my Florida and New Jersey clients.

I think that increasing incidence of hives is probably just part of the
"package" of increasing incidence of allergies--to all sorts of
things--and immune and adrenal weakness in general. It is interesting,
and surely *should* be telling us--and others--something, tho not sure
just what, yet.
I gather that hives are histamine moderated, i.e. allergic; allergies
in general result from a homeostatic mechanism (e.g. adrenals, immune
system) that is overstressed and sort of flailing wildly in its effort
to find balance. There are so many possible contributors: waning
nutritional values of foods due to chemical agriculture, shipping,
sterilization, etc; worsening diets; increasing loads of various
pesticides and other toxins; and apparently "electro-smog" is becoming
an increasing factor as well.
I think one issue we'll all do well to stay aware of, is that at some
point--which will vary from patient to patient--we'll have to be able
to identify (and hopefully figure out ways around) various obstacles to
cure. E.g. Helen's son, who responds so much better to remedies when
they are living in a place away from cell phones etc. For another
person the issue might be pesticides, or wheat, or plastics--the list
keeps growing.

Hi Shannon,
Hmm - strange.
Some years ago I wondered, when browsing the reps, why one heard so
little of "hives - urticaria". I remembered that when I was a kid lots
of people off and on sued to complain about hives - after eating
strawberries for instance.
Well, coming to think of it only now: we are a strawberry-region, lots
of people used to grow them in their gardens. Now there is hardly any
private gardening and strawberries are expensive. Perhaps peole just
ate more of them or more people ate them.
For whatever reason: hives used to be quite common then and apparently
at the time the MMs were written.

It could be that people are simply eating them less--people around
*here* certainly garden less and eat less fruit!
