Wi Fi technology - avoid or adapt?

Post by K DA SILVA-HILL »

Recently, I have have pondering on this issue and asking myself - should we avoid these new technologies at all costs, even though in a few years time it is likely that they would have expanded even more, or should we as a race adapt to them and protect ourselves instead? What does the group think? Grace

I spend my days, when not walking with Sally-Dog or doing yoga, sitting in front of the computer as I am right now—editing, proofing, loving the communication and networking. For two years now, I sit beside my gas fire in winter and on our porch in summer, thanks to our son’s cleverness with WiFi—assuming that means an in-house network and a laptop that connects to the internet from wherever you are in the house. I am so thankful to have it—though I do keep meaning to get out that rose quartz ashtray and put it beside me. Someone posted on some list recently that that might minimize problems with having laptop on lap… Anyway, at 65, I’d rather enjoy my laptop and my fire/bird feeders… Teresa (Northern VA)

I don't think we know enough about them to say definitively.
However, there have been enough red flags that we should approach cautiously.

"Published: 09 September 2007

People should avoid using Wi-Fi wherever possible because of the risks it may pose to health, the German government has said.

Its surprise ruling - the most damning made by any government on the fast-growing technology - will shake the industry and British ministers, and vindicates the questions that The Independent on Sunday has been raising over the past four months.

And Germany's official radiation protection body also advises its citizens to use landlines instead of mobile phones, and warns of "electrosmog" from a wide range of other everyday products, from baby monitors to electric blankets."

Also, interesting questions raised in this video:
